It's somewhat disrespectful to the game, your pitchers, and the other team to create a comedy of it.

No. Disrespectful of the game would be a forfeit.

Clay Moffitt, Riggs Threadgill, Rye Gunter, Will Ripoll and Chase Costello

This is what we have left, who do we start? how quickly does the game tonight get out of hand?

and this is the reason there shouldnt be 12 teams in this tourney.
top 8 only

2011 LSU (36-20) disagrees. We were the 9th seed for the SECT.

The NCAA kept us home and used the fact we didn't make the SECT as the reason.

Our RPI in 2011? 21. The EXACT same as 2019.

The problem with the SECT and pitching is not 12 teams, but the double elimination aspect.

Late 1990s, we had a couple position players pitch. In 1997, didn't Johnnie Thibodeaux pitch against Alabama in that end of the regular season game...only 2 runs we scored were solo homers by Larsen? I swear that Theriot pitched once also in his career. Cabrera pitched some last year.

I had to laugh when ULL played Ole Miss in a regional a few years back and ran out of pitchers. The put in the outfielders first.

Short answer is no.

1. It's tournament format from here on out. This situation gives you an opportunity to see who can step up and deliver for you when you need more arms.

2. The other teams are getting deep into their pens as well. Not as bad as us in this instance, but you aren't facing their ace.

3. You never know what your bats will do. You may give up some runs, but you could also score more than they do.

You don't ever give up.

I will say, though, that while they shouldn't give up, they also can't take a win at all costs mentality. You have to do it without jeopardizing your pitchers for the real thing next week.
