My answer at this point would be a strong NO!

So glad to have the Lane Train in Baton Rouge!

How would you not say Kirby?

I am absolutely STOKED for Kiffin but if we are talking resumes; one guy has proven he can build and sustain a championship program and the other has done a lot, has a lot of hype, but has never climbed the mountain

I don’t think Kirby would be as good of a “fit”
at LSU. Just my $.02

It would be hard to say no to Kirby, but realistically he is the only one i would really consider. Cignetti is a great coach but is 65. Dan Lanning would also be in the conversation but i would lean towards Kiffin for now. I would put Marcus Freeman on the same level as Lanning. Will probably get there but not for a few more years

No other names jump out at me.

"fit" is the dumbest criteria ever. Just re-hire Orgeron if you want a "fit". And definitely never hire Saban, that guy would never be a "fit" for LSU.

The guy who wins fits.

Ryan Day would crush it here

Just like Brian Kelly did.

Kelly could have crushed it here. He chose not to with lazy coaching hires and poor day to day leadership decisions. His failure was self-inflicted.

There you go. On paper Kelly should have crushed it, but right off his personality threw people off, he was a not fit...Odds are a Northwesterner like Ryan Day would be the same.

I'm reading the responses and I get the arguments for them

BUT it's Lane Kiffin, you get his offense - basically the modernized version of the K-Gun Offense - you combine that with the talent of Louisiana, his portal exploits, the alignment of the school and state with him, his brand and LSU's, and Blake Baker's 3-3-5 base scheme

There's really no one else I want over him

You would never get Kirby away from his alma mater, but he would be the only other elite coach that would fit here. He's got that dog in him.

So you would have passed on Nick Saban?

Except for one season as a GA under Urban Meyer at Florida and one year as QB coach at the SF 49ers, Before coming to OSU, Day has always lived, played and coached in the northeast. Played/coached at NH, coached w/ 49ers/Eagles and coached at Temple and Boston College.
