CLK is definitely at the top of my list. I don’t think I would trade him for Cig. But Cig would be intriguing, considering he was able to win a national championship at a basketball school in the middle of a corn field.

you hire the coach who is most likely to win games for LSU, not the one who is a "culture fit".
Those are one in the same, which you do not realize.

All you Kirby fans are clowns lol. Lane will go down as the Best football hire ever! Let’s revisit this in 5 years.

I don’t think Kirby would be as good of a “fit” at LSU. Just my $.02
Could say the same about Saban, but…you know…it worked!
EdO could not possibly have been a better fit and it did work until it didn’t.
Fit is overrated. Winning is the ultimate fit.
And Kirby wins.

When you get thru dick riding Kiffin let us know when he wins any type of SEC or National title.

If I was forced to trade someone for Lane, it would be Mike Elko.

Didn't want Lane for many reasons, but have to admit that he has been great so far. To answer your question though, I would take Dan Lanning or Marcus Freeman over Lane. Jon Sumrall is in the conversation too, but he needs to produce at the power 5 level before really jumping ahead. We will see how he handles the SEC. I also think Matt Campbell would have done well here. As it stands we have Lane, so let's roll!

We have the right portal, nil, culture building and offensive coach at the perfect time. And i fon’t think Kiffin gas any desire to leave LSU for a long time. We are lucky to have a hardworking and driven coach

Correct. Kirby only works at UGA in a HC role. He wouldn’t have the same success elsewhere. He’s as Georgia as it gets.

quote:So are you under the impression Nick Saban was considered a culture fit for LSU when he was hired? Coming from Michigan State and having never coached in the South? Of course not, at the time his hire was a big surprise. Then he won at LSU and changed the culture to fit him. Hire a winner (like Kirby Smart) and he will fit. I love Lane, but don't argue he's a better coach for us because he's some kind of a "fit" for LSU that Kirby is not.
