I always prefer to defer
but if we take it first we need to have long sustained drives

We defer. Tua gets off to great starts. We want him to start on his 25. DONT want to take the risk of a three and out and a punt that puts him on 35 or even better field position.

Of course, you defer 99% of the time. But in this case, I receive— for 2 reasons:
1) minimize the number of offensive possessions by Bama in the 1st half
2) it allows White to be on the field immediately in the 3rd quarter

Normally I’d say defer. This time, take the ball.
My fantasy is we kick off and on 1st or 2nd, we get a massive crushing sack against Tua, but this year, the way they open up.......

Defer. The crowd will be loud af. Set the tone without White and show we don’t have to have him to stop Bama. Would be demoralizing and fire up the crowd. Have to use the crowd and that’s the way. Let them help the defense. Let them make up for White’s loss.

Death Valley will be rocking. Maybe we can get Bama to false start or better yet, turn it over. Tua has never seen anything like what's coming...
Our O goes down and gets a FG and we're off to good start.
We close the half with the ball and start the 2nd half with the ball.
Check the UGA and Miss St game tape for reference.
We have to trust our defense.

You gotta keep their offense off the field all you can in the first half. They haven’t had a close game yet. So you take the ball and try to use some clock and sustain a drive. If we can score first it would be huge.
If Devin White is that important to your defense it also limits the drives without him.
Momentum will be our main hope to keep this game close till the end so whatever way we can do that helps. Tua has never faced a hostile crowd before so we gotta make it count.
