re: LSU is ranked 5th. Anyone else think this is the most fun season.

If you are only talking about regular seasons, 2011 was my favorite LSU football season ever. I realize the BCSCG fiasco ruined the overall season for most — but I will never forget the high of the season.
2019 was also a great regular season, but I liked 2011 more.

Tarkenton was a scrambler - but never showed a lot of interest in running for positive yards. He scrambled to extend plays and throw the ball downfield. The exception was near the goal line.
According to his stats, he only averaged about 200 yards rushing per season over his career. Granted, he may not have been a full-time starter all those years - so that stat may be skewed.
But my memories of him as a scrambler were to set up a big pass play.

Tonight was great. And no doubt, Bama has routinely outperformed us at the LOS. But your memory is short.
In the 2008 game, LSU held Bama to 138 yards rushing, while LSU rushed for over 200 yards. Scott rushed for 92 yards, while KWilliams rushed for 88.
And in 2010, LSU rushed for 225, while holding Bama to 102.
Yes, they are outliers - but that doesn’t mean they didn’t happen.

One Script LSU Needs to Change this Weekend

… Starting slow. Of course, you don’t want to fall behind a great team like Bama — just in terms of the scoreboard.
But of secondary importance is that Tiger Stadium will be rocking and giving us a big edge. But if we fall behind 17-3 to Bama, I’m afraid the crowd is gonna think “Here we go again” — and the noise level is gonna drop 70%.
Well, unless we stage a big comeback, of course.

Well, the OP asked for a “starting offensive line”. So I started out with a line that was offensive.

The two NFL superstars he most reminds me of are: Charley Taylor and Paul Warfield. Each of them made the Pro Bowl 8 times.

I can’t imagine anyone being worried about a WR in this class.
re: Joe Burrow was asked who would win ‘19 LSU or ‘20 Bama. His response..

Yeah, I think you have to first ask who would between 2019 Bama and 2020 Bama? A lot of the same players, and you have to assume the 2020 versions might be improved.
But they lost some super talent. And while I have great respect for the 2020 QB - Tua could be a magician at times.

re: “The best kicker on the planet”....
Posted by kevlanmei on 12/21/20 at 3:41 am to LSUstephen17
The thing I mentioned about York last year held true through 2020 as well: He gets immediate elevation on his kicks - including from long distance.
A lot of kickers can maybe boom them from 55-60 yards, but for them to get home - they need it to be more of a line drive. Which makes their long kicks more susceptible to being blocked at the line-of-scrimmage.
Having York as your kicker greatly minimizes that possibility.

Definitely a concern. Back in February - even before the (seemingly lack of???) development of Bradford and Thomas, I felt we needed NEEDED 5 OL signees in this class. I had actually penciled in six.
That turned out to be a pipe dream

I think the #1 SEC QB is the composite of “Whoever is throwing against LSU’s secondary this week”.
re: What if, after Rein's tragic death, LSU hired Eddie Robinson?
Posted by kevlanmei on 10/13/20 at 7:22 am to WMTigerFAN
I was fortunate to meet Coach Robinson at an event when I was a kid. He had the ability to make people (me, in this case) feel as if you were the most important person in the room.
Needless to say, I idolized him.

Not game day yet for all Tiger fans. I got another 5 1/2 hours before game day comes.
But I’ll be up at 3:30 am for this game to begin. Once again!!

Southcoast, LSU just had a “package deal work in our favor” in this past recruiting cycle (teammates from Fort Lauderdale).
re: Corey Kiner dealing

Since Kiner committed, there has never been a need for a second back.
I agree about Dellinger - he appears to have the best footwork and agility out of the three. I think I read he has been starting on the varsity basketball team since he was a freshman (state champs???).
Not only that, but Daniels was only 17 years old that season - due to graduating high school in only 3 years.
And like LSU, their offensive scheme was overhauled the following season (last year) to be much more QB friendly.

Did I see that right - where Waddle is selected for three different positions by himself?!?!?

I didn’t want to reply to anyone specifically - so I chose the OP.
I have read numerous people saying they have hoped LSU would not bring in a transfer QB because of:
- Brennan has earned the #1 spot (talent + loyalty)
- It would be unfair if some transfer suddenly leaped ahead of him
- What would it do to his psyche?
I understand this reasoning. But I just don’t agree with it. Mainly for one reason: “What would our QB room look like if Brennan were to suffer a season-ending injury in our 3rd game?”
You simply cannot have too much talented or experienced depth at the QB position. You should strive to never have your entire season hinge on one potential injury. In this case, Kirby Smart is right to keep stockpiling QBs. It greatly enhances the likelihood that at least one of them pans out.

Thanks for the HUDL link!
A few things from that tape:
1) The vast majority of his runs are between the tackles. That is refreshing, as speed guys seem to mostly run outside.
2) He looks very comfortable in the passing game
3) His offensive line was fantastic. Plus, receivers stayed with their downfield blocks very well
