You men like offering Jamaar Chase a scholly as a DB only? So much so he was leaving the State to go play WR? One of O's first recruiting moves was to get Chase to LSU as a WR.

Exactly the sort of individual contributor action I had in mind. That is not a process, but an individual decision.

Sidetracking but notice that we were DBU up until about then, and since then we have been a below average SEC team when it comes to DBs. Les Miles talked a lot of would-be receivers into being DBs, like Mo Claiborne.

There was no turning around that dumpster fire. I bet we don’t even make a bowl game in 2022 if he was still around

He was 9-4 and 10-3 the 2 previous seasons with Ensminger at OC. It took a revamp of the offense and a 2nd year with elite talent to take the team over the top.

Not defending O, just stating facts. After that he drove the team into the ditch and needed to be fired.

once the support structure that was in place at LSU all left, his roster management went to shite.
Just like it did his entire time at Ole Miss.

FTR, I'm not sure who his support structure was at LSU or OM. But he was a recruited well at USCw, OM, and LSU. He left Nutt a boatload of talent for '08 after he was canned at OM.

O needed a lot of help to be successful at the CFB level. But given that help, it's possible he would've won another natty.

Is this assuming he’s not banging any more college coeds and there’s no other sex scandals too? I know we’re in fantasy land and doing hypotheticals so just making sure i understand the whole scenario before commenting

I think Ed O would have had a better defense, same receivers. He would NOT have gone out and found JD5. I just don’t see that happening without CBK/Denbrock.

Somebody at LSU saw something in JD5 no one else saw.

Ed O did something similar with Joe Burrow, but I don’t think he’d have done it again with JD5.

And I don’t think Nuss would have been ready last year, or year before, to get LSU to 9 wins.

Bo Pelini says hello.

No no. To the Ed Orgeron sycophants here, Bo Pelini was a great hire. Somehow those shitty trans we had under Ed O were all the players fault and had NOTHING to do with Ed Orgeron or his hires being bad at their jobs and even though they recruited said players who were to blame for those bad teams, it’s still not Ed O’s fault for recruiting them. Nope! Ed O did everything perfect while he was at LSU. Why just ask his “king” crew of dumbassery here who constantly defend him and shite all over any and all other coaches LSU has ever had. In their minds, only Ed O was good.

You sure about that "all other coaches LSU has ever had" ?

I only bring up points about Orgeron because we have fools that make every fricking excuse they can to minimize Brian Kelly's failures. As if nothing is his fault. And when it is and House sucks, it's back to the closet to break out the Coach O dead horse again.

It's easy to blame O, here's not in charge. But just the past week we have posters minimizing Freeman's win over Georgia because "they played a backup", yet Brennan went down early in 2020 and just before the season opener in 2021 and O was forced to play Finley and Johnson. Nuss was on the roster, but wasn't ready yet, and frankly neither were the other two (and still not SEC quality).

If perspective were the same in measuring both coaches, the heavy handed criticisms of both would likely go away.

Kelly is a highly paid coach and fans want a high level of success.

All 37 guys in the roster from two 15+ ranked recruiting classes?? Those guys?? Yep he sure did yet you’d rather O than Kelly. Come on bro

This has been a disingenuous talking point from the minute O was no longer on campus. He didn't start the year with 37 guys. All of the players knew he wasn't coming back at midseason. Some graduated, many hit the new portal, some were injured and couldn't play, some were out getting ready for the NFL.

It really is no different than this season, how players left the program by graduation, transfer, injury? 30 or so? The lack of players is the convenient excuse BK kids have been able to cling to for 4 years now. Yet every player that has hit portal, the fanbase says "he wasn't good anyway" same with missing recruits, once they're not committed to LSU, fans find a way to cope with not having them.

No! When Woody hired Pellini, it was over. Without a great defense, 2019 would not have happened.

If Ed O had last year’s offense, do we field a competent defense last year? Would O have righted the ship if he had that offense?

I know he was in complete collapse as a person, but I can’t see him fielding a defense that bad.

JD, Malik, and BTJ are so elite, I wonder if Orgeron would have won more with them?

No, HELL no.
