Maybe, Maybe not. Raymond may not be the best fit for CBK.

Raymond is a great coach but likely and understandably wanted to be more like a DC or as he got at UF the Associate HC title.

Sometimes guys like that aren’t built for it or need to prove themselves eaewhere as a coordinator before hitting a top job like DC at a P5 powerhouse.

Don’t you find it a little interesting that Raymond never got a legit offer as a DC anywhere?

That ULL coach is a bit like Saban...build a staff to try to raid Louisiana. Kelly better get that wall up in a hurry.

A dumbass would be the guy that thinks a staff can’t recruit in more than one state.

Is it a coincidence that the best cbs didn’t want to play? Stingley, Ricks?

That and money. OL Coach Davis got 800k before doing anything. Frank is getting close to, if not a mill for his role. Raymond has coached the most successful or 2nd most successful unit on LSU for his entire time here, yet he didn't get a significant raise. I can't fault the man for leaving for more money, nor do I think LSU will suck because he is gone.

Hmmm...dude was an A+ recruiter so this seems a little out of whack.

BK is the man so he builds the staff the way he sees fit. I'm definitely not panicked that Raymond has moved on but it's going to sting, especially given he's going to a conf rival we play every year.

Guy replacing him pulled Tillery out of LA so there's that.

Maybe BK did want to retain him but not at Raymond's price. Or maybe Raymond was ready to move on.

Was he though? In last couple of yrs it seems hes missed out on primary targets more than hes secured them.

Looked at 247 recruiter recruiter rankings from 2013 forward. Heres his numbers:

2022 - 30th in SEC, 82nd nationally

2021 - 28 SEC, 70 nationally

2020 - 6 SEC, 14 nationally

2019 - 7 SEC, 13 nationally

2018 - 19 SEC, 52 nationally

2017 - 32 SEC, 76 nationally

2016 - 5 SEC, 87 nationally

2015 - 37 SEC, 81 nationally

2014 - 5 SEC, 6 nationally

2013 - 27 SEC, 58 nationally

Only 1 of those yrs, 2020, was he the highest rated recruiter on LSU's staff.

LSU will be fine.
