Leavitt
-not the best teammate and a head case
-indecisive on where he wants to be
-injured and can’t practice for a very long time
-very expensive
-rental QB for 1-2 years, not our future
Longstreet
-consensus 5 star
-dynamic runner
-lower price tag
-from California
-has 4 years of eligibility left and can win us a national title
hey Neil.. where the frick have you been for the last 3 years?
You think boosters are dropping 40 mil a year on rosters so you can go get a project with "4 years" left?
People expect and Im assuming Lane expects a national title THIS year.
YOU don't go get senior transfers for hundreds of thousands or millions each to get a dude because he "has more upside."
You get production. Now.
See Indiana... although --- it does appear that there is some smoke behind these cheating allegations.

The QB merry-go-round is fascinating to watch. What is surprising to me is the number of QB LSU recruited who have left the program over the last few years. Several highly touted 5* QB who never saw the field. I can not be critical of the fact, when the portal gave us Joe and Jayden. This is high stakes poker for sure. The right QB can make or break you Offense. On the injury front, getting an uninjured QB makes sense. However it is unpredictable as to whether the injury bug sidelines your QB or worse ends his season.

What does “from California “ have to do with the equation?
Posted on 1/11/26 at 6:52 am to NeilArmstrong1969
Bro stop, Longstreet has never started a college game. Leavett started 13 and went into double overtime in the playoffs as a freshman. Theres not one thing but stars besides his name that makes you think Longstreet is ready to be a starting qb.

Yep - every team is Karr or better. Duncanville thought they were the shite and played Mater Dei and got destroyed years ago.

From California, and for this reason I’m out.

While it is not entirely uncommon for players to occasionally miss the team's end-of-year banquet, team captains and star players are usually the first ones to arrive. Leavitt met both descriptions, but he was not present Sunday night for the team banquet, raising eyebrows.

Reportedly, Leavitt had not communicated to Dillingham or others that he would not be present at the banquet. Some in attendance took Dillingham's comments as an ironic shot at the quarterback for no-showing on the banquet.

It has been previously reported that there were tensions in the locker room with Leavitt since his season was ended due to injury. A lack of public acknowledgement for backup Jeff Sims' stellar performances - especially after Sims had his game jersey from a record-setting performance against Iowa State inducted into the Arizona State Hall of Fame - was not well-received in the locker room.
There was also apparently consternation over Leavitt not staying in the stadium for the home game against West Virginia, with some noting that he could have easily gotten a seat up in the booth if he simply needed to be away from the sideline for injury recovery purposes.

I still think they get Leavitt and Clark. Clark has 2-3 years left. Tell him he can come in and battle for the starting spot. If Clark wins, you have your QB for the next 2-3 years. If he doesn’t win, he gets a year under Kiffin and Weis and you now have your starter for the following season.
Based on everything Clark has posted, he seems excited about LSU and the opportunity to play for LK and Weis. He said LSU was the first big school to offer him once he hit the portal.

That a ridiculous take OP. A project over a proven 4 year starter with playoff experience

JD was from Cali - The Inland Empire SB

They’re both a project. Competency and physicality can be illusive after a difficult injury. ie: Nussmeier.

Why is from Cali better than from Oregon? Just curious?

Leavitt sounds PERFECT for what we’re looking for

From AZcentral newspaper article…
“He is putting the money from the sale of his NIL merchandise into the Sun Angel collective so his teammates can prosper. Over the summer, he also conducted a youth football camp and donated $15,000 to the Pat Tillman Foundation.“
"Everything we do is competitive," Sims said. "We're always challenging each other. Sam helps me, and I help him. That's just our relationship. That's my dog. I'll run through a brick wall for Sam.”
