This hasn't been the issue. He has often gone for TDs when we feel he should be taking the 3 points (see all game openers since he has been here where overly aggressive decisions have come back to bite us). And see the Bama 2022 game when he went for the W instead of the tie/OT and most people were shitting their pants. Of course, that one ended with an awesome outcome.

He turned the program back into a consistent winner fast, but his issues have been dumb personnel and coaching decisions during games. Our O-line has been undisciplined the whole year (and he is an O-line guy). We are slow to make adjustments that should be obvious at times and get beat by double digits more than we should.

It has been different than I expected. I was more worried about him being conservative. Not always the case at all. Sometimes quite the opposite with less than stellar decisions. I was expecting more common sense and discipline. Nope.

He won't get past that 10-win ceiling if he doesn't use more common sense and change some things when playing in the SEC.

These are good observations. What I meant by playing not to lose is ND traditionally had a strong defense while he was there, so with any sort of lead against any opponent in the 2nd half he went into an offensive shell. He always took the opening kickoff at ND, too, by the way.

Mark, GTFO. We didn't invite your opinions, so go back to lovely Indiana.

I actually left there in 1989 for warmer southeast weather.

Lighten up. It's all in good fun.

And, uh, exactly what has he done with those classes? Thanks for proving my point.

Not siding with the ND fan , but what in the frick has any of his classes at LSU gotten us ????
Oh my sweet summer children.

The players in the first class are only in their second year. They'll be contributing en masse soon.

The players in the second class are only freshmen.

The players in the third class are high school seniors, but they include:

the #1 QB in the country - Bryce Underwood

the #1 CB in the country - DJ Pickett

the #1 RB in the county - Harlem Berry

the #2 IOL in the country - Carius Curne

the #3 IOL in the country - Tyler Miller

the #7 CB in the country - Kade Phillips

the #7 IOL in the country - Devin Harper

the #10 EDGE in the country - Jesse Harrold

Let’s wait until they are all on campus before a victory lap . Also above all else let’s have a better team on the field . But hey there’s always 27’ or 28’ and the class of 25 right ?!?! Regardless of the product on the field .

I would argue that BK has been far too aggressive at times here and it's generated some blowout losses

Among other things I pointed out. That he was a good coach, not a great one.

Well yeah, there are no "great coaches" available.

But I was told by this board that at Notre Dame he couldn't get the athletes that he was gonna get at LSU.

That's factual.

Freeman and Kelly have basically the same win-loss record and Freeman took over a team that was losing 1 or 2 games a year while Kelly took over a team that had went .500 for 2 consecutive seasons.

I would argue Freeman has been worse than BK, all things considered.

Meh, had he made the right DC hire year one, things would be different. Don’t get me wrong, that’s Kelly’s mistake and it set the program back 2 years. On the other hand, last year they would have won the whole thing, if the defense had a pulse.

True but one program looks to be rising and barring a collapse will make the playoff

The other looks like a sinking ship

Sure, if you're an emotional, reactionary person.

I'd like LSU's chances to make the playoff if they played Notre Dame's schedule.

I’m not saying everything is roses at LSU, but have you seen the teams ND has lost to the last three years? They have 3 or 4 inexplicable losses that would have our fans rioting. Their schedule is also weak as shite every year. They would be a 7-5 team in the SEC. They’ll be exposed quickly in the playoffs like they normally are.

The fact that so many on this board don't agree with this just shows that we deserve this as a fanbase. We are chicken shite. Someone will get Curt, and win big.

An I told you so post is low, you could have worded your message differently to make the same point.

There is still copium here though. Kelly era cant end fast enough… people will get excited again next year only for the same result.

Fwiw, a lot of us hated the hire… guy is a loser in games that matter.

This board swears BK is past his prime and Curt is even older than BK.

Make it make sense.

Bernard Hopkins is 4 years older than Roy Jones Jr. yet the latter’s prime was over much sooner than the former’s. This is common in sports and coaching so it makes perfect sense.

What is the argument for Cignetti over BK?

They seem like very similar guys.

Kelly's last 3 seasons at Notre Dame don't look much different than Cignetti's 3 at the P5 level.
