because im to lazy to look it up but I think Saban and Meyer are the only two coaches in the last 30 years or so to leave a head coaching job to take another head coaching job at a different university and go on to win the Championship.

Les Miles and Gene Chizik.

Yep so we're up to 4 over the last 30 or so years.....now lets turn around and look at all the coaches that have left a head coaching job for another and never won a title over the last 30 years.....we'd be here all night listing them all.....

Kiffin did it to Tennessee and Florida A. And Bama. And if he does it to Ole Miss he surely won’t do it again, right?

Ill get downvoted also, but I dont like stealing coaches from a rival in our own league.

I prefer finding an up-and coming young coach like we did with Saban and grin all the way to championships.

Bobby Bowden, Mack Brown, Jim Tressel.

Saban won almost a quarter of the last 30 championships. Meyer won 2.

In total those 7 coaches won 14 titles going back to 1999.

It’s almost like it’s not relevant.

I'm not bombing....but Kiffin hasn't quit on his team. Ole Miss and the universities wanting him are forcing the issue. He's just in the headlines and can't stop it. Don't blame him.

This is an NCAA problem, or an SEC problem. Not LSU’s fault; nor Kiffins. The portal should not open until a week or three after the NC, and member schools should not be poaching coaches during the season. They are just playing the rules as they are written. They should be updated, especially the portal window.

actually...ok...im with ya....so lets talk about how many coordinators were hired as head coaches and won titles over the same timeframe....Day, Smart, Swinney, Fisher, Orgeron, Stoops....i dont remember the others....but its safe to say hiring a head coach from another school is not a slam dunk for a title. LSU would have just as much chance to win a title with Kiffin as they would with Schumann.

Other than Kirby they were all promoted from within (Jimbo was hired with the HCIW title). So now you’re advocating for Wilson to keep the job (kidding).

Kiffin and Wilson have the same amount of Championships as head coach......just sayin'.....and Wilson hasnt had all the chances that Lane has to win them.

So, you've never moved on from your job to a better one. Personally, I've only had 3 jobs since graduating college in 1998. Each one was a step up in both job and pay. My intention is to stay at the job I'm at now until a better opportunity pops up. Who wouldn't do this?

By the way, I never had the Saban hate like many here do. He didn't leave LSU to go to Alabama...

Ole Miss is in a tough spot. The girl they have proposed to won’t commit. They are anxious now and will likely hasten her exit by losing whatever cool they had. They will end up looking pathetic and everybody can blame the girl but the girl will get what she wants because she has all the leverage.

I almost but don’t feel sorry for Ole Miss. The reality of their status in college football is becoming obvious to all who understand the game.

To be fair. All Coaches when they accept another Coaching job (except those that are fired) quit on their teams in some shape or fashion. Nick Saban quit on MSU to come to LSU. He then quit on LSU to go to Miami and then quit on Miami to go back to Bama.

BK quit on ND to come be at LSU. Lincoln Riley quit on OU to go Coach at USC. This happens all over the place. Is it really better to quit on the team before the playoff rather than before the season finale?

I don't either, but I will make an exception for Lane.
