And???

Kirby Smart is 1-7 against Bama and is an amazing coach.

If this is your only metric, then you will be sorely disappointed...

Team? The “Team,” has taken a step back with NIL. Very few players are loyal to a program now.

This is the only way it happens. There is no portal window for coaches.

Saban did it to Michigan State and the Dolphins, worked out fine. It’s an unfortunate part of the system given the recruiting calendar

He’s not quitting on his teal, he’s coming on our team.

Ok Mr Power. I’m sure you’re at the top of the food chain. How’d you manage to post on this shite show board with all that power you’re wielding?

How is it quitting on your team when the university he coaches for is literally giving him an ultimatum and forced to make a decision by the last regular season game or else they are cutting him loose? Sounds more like an Ole Miss problem than a Lane Kiffin problem.

Not so at all. OM has chosen to paint Kiffin into a corner where he either stays or is perceived to "quit on his team." The OM ultimatum, not Kiffin's silence, is the clusterfrick.

I think LSU is his best choice, but believe he'll head for Florida in any event. Especially now that OM just broke trust with that bush league nonsense.

Kiffen has been fired more times than he has quit on his teams. So there’s that, at least.

And also, Ole Miss has a tradition of rough coach resignations. See Tommy Tuberville, who famously said he would only leave Oxford in a pine box.

Would you leave your job for an opportunity at a better life? Just curious, because that’s what this could do for him and other coaches

So, you’re fine with the way this goes down? Nothing about it seems unethical to you? Leaving your team in a playoff run? I’m sure you’d support it if it was LSU’s Coach leaving under the same circumstances, right?

Coaches generally don't leave programs like LSU. They get run off. Saban being the exception of course.

Finish the season and then do what you want, but quitting on your team to go to a rival before the season is over is bad form, and is a sign of low character.

writing was already on the wall since he didn’t sign an extension that’s been sitting on his desk for weeks so he was given an ultimatum. I don’t blame Kiffin for wanting to make a step up from OM. He wants to take that next step so in retaliation they are barring him from coaching postseason

Their loss

It’s hard to say. If people were depending on me to stay true to the contract I made with them in the middle of a crucial season, I’d have a responsibility to do the right thing. It’s complicated, and I’m sure it’s complicated for Lane too. But I think coaching at the college level is a pretty unique situation that’s probably unlike most job considerations. I just don’t like the way it all goes down. It puts coaches in situations that make them seem hypocritical, because it goes against every aspect of team ethics.

Yeah, and we all loved it when he did it. We didn’t call him things like Satan or anything like that. We completely understood.

This will be the norm for coaching hires when there’s 12 or more teams in playoffs.
