Under the old system of only having the ability to sign 25 players, if you ended a season with less than 60 scholarship players, you would be short handed on your roster. Additionally, those 60 players should be spread across all positions so that you don’t have shortages at position groups. Only having 30ish scholarship players and having some position groups completely empty, means you have absolutely no clue about roster management

FINALLY we can move on from O. I’m glad to hear someone else say this.

Mostly false, and partially retracted by the media

Shouldn't have said what he said, but false.

Why can't you all make an argument without resorting to exaggeration or flat out falsehoods?

O took a national championship team that gave him a huge payday, got rid of his wife, and started chasing hot babes. In other words, he had his focus on something other than football and the LSU football program suffered from his lack of attention.

When you have to take double digit transfers for 2 consecutive years to fill in a two deep, that is a sign of atrocious roster management.

We're just talking about how O left his office. Does that make sense?

With portals and NIL, nah.

If you think portals are a good thing, I can't help you. You are relying on players that can't get playing time at another school or picking up db's from smaller schools that are not talented enough to play in the SEC. I guess if you need bodies, you do what what you have to do.

Who was the "Leader"? Woody!
He hired Pelini. O was fired mid season. His player/recruits saw the fiasco coming and left.

You're wrong on first 2 for sure. 39 scholarship players chose to play. More were on roster. And there is no doubting O's recruiting ability.

Can’t expect players to stick around when you fire a coach mid season and make him coach the year out. Especially in the transfer portal era. terrible decision by woody

It's been explained thousands of times on this board. If you have been "hearing" it and you still don't understand it, there is nothing any of us can do to make you understand. It's ok. The world needs ditch diggers too.

Kelly inherited a recruiting class that included his starting tackles for the next four years. Entire programs are often built on such talent.

Not to mention sophs BTJ, Nabers, Hilton, Bech, Nuss, Maason Smith, etc.

When Orgeron left, the following recruits and underclassmen defensive players were left for Kelly

Maason Smith
BJ Ojulari - played in 2022 and went to the draft
Greg Penn III
Damarius McGhee (walk-on)
Sage Ryan
Zavier Carter (transferred to UNLV after 2022)
Jacobian Guillory
Harold Perkins
Quency Wiggins
Laterrance Welch
Jaelyn Davis-Robinson (transferred to SMU)

That's it. The rest of our defensive roster has had to be filled through the transfer portal and freshmen in the 2023 class. He had some upperclassmen talent on the 2022 squad but they were all gone by this year
