O's recruiting combined Jeff Grimes leaves alot to be desired. Will it change over the next few months? I hope so.

The turn around was impressive, we easily could have gone the way of FSU.

To me, getting the team to buy in after a couple of tough losses got me off his back for a while. I'll probably give him next season to get us to 10+ wins and I would think that with this freshman class that we should be a contender in 2019.

I won't have confidence in Orgeron until we see how he handles turnover on the staff. He's put himself in a position where promoting from within is impossible and landing anything other than one of the 2-3 hottest names at the time will be a disappointment.

this isn't some grand insight. It's literally the career path for the majority of coaches in any sport.

I also think this angle gets over played. He is not even an LSU guy. Signed here but left soon, and coached and negatively recruited against LSU in different jobs. Miles is more a Tiger than him if you want to go there.

If we and Alabama win out won’t we finish second?

Miss st will have at least 3 conference loses
Auburn will have st least 2 but we’ll have the head to head
A&M will have st least four
Arkansas will have a lease 5
And Ole Miss at Least 4

O's recruiting

He had the 7th ranked class in the nation in February after being on the job less than 3 months.

This statement would have made sense and gotten agreement a few weeks ago. Not so much now. What he has done with the patchwork line having to start 2 true freshmen most of the season and have 3 true freshmen start at times this season is phenomenal.

LSU's 2019 recruiting class - includes the two 5-star OL recruits that Grimes is their lead recruiter and will be their position coach.

LSU Total Commits: 6,.. 5-star: 2,.. 4-star: 2,.. 3-star: 1, Average: 91.22 Points: 123.19

He doesn't get all the credit for that class. He gets credit for keeping it from falling apart, but let's not act like he built it.

Really? How's that?

Corey Raymond may be ready and be the perfect fit as a defensive coordinator. If Eaux doesn't do it someone else may.

Eaux promoted Meatball when he got the interim gig.

I'd rather have the best guy and not necessarily the hottest name.

not really, I've dealt with it all my life and have certification papers. Do you enjoy picking on disabled?

My point was that hiring O could hardly be expected to bring long term positive change. Therefore, it was an irrational move. Yet you O sycophants who act on emotion think it was a good move because of how he makes you feel. You’re just proving my point.
oh, so that's why you had to point out that there were "O sycophants", that's what drove that particular point home?

I guess that's where my low intellect comes into play... I didn't quite catch that throwing out such blanket insults made that point so poignant.

Yeah.... still..... frick you.

On another subject...

I don't expect change based on recent history. Yeah, the OL is playing better. We had to replace a 3* OG with a 4* Fr OG at OT while the higher rated Fr OT is still on the bench, and the other Fr OT recruited last year never enrolled.

So there's some big misses there, including in who starts where at the beginning of the season, not just recruiting. It's errors in both in-play evaluations and recruiting evaluations.

"I'm going to go get the best coordinators available."

I'm sorry you don't like it, but promoting from within is not an option.

It's amazing the crazy perspective of this board...Les got no credit for any of his accomplishments, it was either Saban's recruits or LSU recruits itself.
Now the rhetoric is Coach O doesn't do anything and his coordinators do everything...

Why can't these "fans" give him a couple of seasons before deeming him a failure?
The emotional age of most people on this board is 10.

agreed 100%

after the auburn game, i said ole miss was huge. seeing how we reacted after an emotional, big win at home, then going on the road to face a team we should beat.

now the same challenges lie ahead. if we beat these 3 teams that we should beat, i will say he has earned the next 2 years to get it right.

At the time the players signed on the dotted line they knew who the head coach was going to be. That is his class.

Turns out he was keeping it from falling apart for himself. Some if not most of the recruits would have scattered if he was not named head coach.

Jacob Phillips, K'Lavon Chaisson, and Tyler Taylor definitely wouldn't have been at LSU among others.
