I guess I don't get the Woodward hate and the need to part ways.

We are so divided. Woodward is known for going after the big name in sports. It has worked well for him outside of Jimbo and BK. Jimbo was extended by TAMU, so it's not entirely on him. BK was the highest active win percentage coach on the market.
Times have changed and we don't know if Woodward's approach will change. I think incentive/performance based contracts will be a new reality for head coaches.
Is it so hard to have meetings with the board and Landry and hash out a new direction? I get it that they have different political ideologies. So what? They both love LSU and want it to succeed.
Woodward is the best guy to land a big name. Offset the buyout with some incentives and see what you can get. Dumbass Landry isn't going to change college athletics. We will still need to pay big dollars for winning coaches and there are no guarantees. CEOs get hired and fired all the time in big business.
Sure things don't exist...unless you are a politician playing the stock market.

Woodward got screwed, and anyone who can't see that is delusional. I don't worship the guy or anything, and I still to this day haven't forgiven him for what he did to the basketball program, but I still think he was a huge net positive for LSU. A few years from now the people gloating at the moment will be bitching about the new AD and will suddenly want Woodward back.

Anyone could write a giant check and that is what he’s known for, for better or worse. And the Wade debacle. But damn, Landry is so bad for this state.

Going to be very interesting to see how all of this turns out. It can go good or it can be a dumpster fire. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit of it’s the latter.

I don't get the narrative that Woodword did it basically autonomously. He has bosses that approve these things.

LSU fans have never liked any AD we have ever had.
3 things can happen to a football coach
1) Take another job
2) Retire on their own terms
3) Get fired
Guess which one happens the most.
Whoever replaces Woody will not have his ability to attract coaches. Take that to the bank.
Landry is a retard but worse than that is all the motherfrickers on this site cheering him on.
