Let's face it. If he does win his bowl game, dude will finish 10-3. Will we be happy with that? Of course not. But, I would venture to say that a coach in his situation coming off a 10-3 record is probably gonna get extended 99% of the time.

And this is ShortyRob talking.............trust me. NO ONE is gonna confuse me with some pro-O guy.

An extension isn’t that big a deal to me depending on what the buyout scale is

But if he finishes at 9-4 then this is a total shite season. 9-4 is trash.

I forget, did our admin try to fire Miles in 2015 or did he get an extension?

Zero points , AGAIN, vs Bama, first lost to Ags in 23 years, and 100ish ranked Offense are screaming so loud, your logic can't come close to penetration

O is a great coach, i hope he stays here the next 20+ years

we got killed at the LT spot this year, if we solidify that position next year i can see us going 11-2 or better very easily, and setting up for a NC run in 2 years when we have Bama at home and no Tua

You can extend his contract for 100 years as long as the buyout remains reasonable.

Just like to remind you that Clay Helton was 11-3 last season. They promptly extended him, how look at USC.

How many coaches are in his situation? Can you name any other P5 coach that literally no other team would take as anything more than a DL coach/recruiting coordinator?

Yeah, I don't have a problem with the extension if the reason is recruiting but I don't see why you should automatically get an extension because the record and a bowl game. If that's all he's doing then let him finish out his contract and revisit it. The biggest problem I have is giving a raise to this guy or an extension after the offensive shitshow he put on this year, the Matt Canada debacle and promoting Les Miles' TE coach to handle the offense.

If Captain Orgeron has plans on keeping Steve Ensminger at OC, then he needs to be ran the frick off of campus

If he inherited a 6-6 squad, sure. Extend the piss out of him before a better school comes calling.

But just maintaining what the guy that got fired did and in year 2 of your 5 year contract with no other obvious suitor? Only at LSU.

This conversation makes a little more sense if we're having it in late November 2019 and it's shite or get off the pot time regarding whether or not we're keeping Orgeron. At that point, yeah, we have to either fire or extend him.

Les Miles wasn’t extended after going 11-2 in 2010.

Or after winning the SEC at 13-1 in 2011.

He was extended after going 10-3 in 2012 and that is widely criticized as one of the worst mistakes our AD has ever made.

He was not extended after going 10-3 yet again in 2013.

He was effectively fired after going 9-3 (10-3 with McNeese) in 2015.

Your post is laughably wrong

I agree. I don’t understand who is even starting the conversation here at this point or why.

That should not warrant an extension.

No other school wants him. Why would we give him a big buyout? Where is going to go - McNeese?

we lost to two coaches in their first year retooling and fixing up programs with major issues. TAMU and UF.

that is NOT a good look at all.
