I agree and do not support it. We have great annual rivalries with Bama, AU, UF and I can see those becoming less frequent. I'm a traditionalist and adding A&M and Mizzou watered it down but at least we had some tradition history with A&M to soften that.

We better benefit to a greater degree than the newly added teams. I think revenue should have some seniority component for the teams that have been in the SEC since the beginning.

I don't understand how adding them helps our chances at making the playoffs.

OU and Texas coming to the SEC increases the value of the SEC tremendously. It will make for an additional set of powerhouse games against powerhouse teams.

Texas and OU are the equivalent of LSU and Georgia leaving... maybe a tad bigger.

This adds 2 more teams to our conference that would get in our way of getting to the playoffs.

But hell yea we'd likely get 1 on our schedule and that would be some serious competition.

And now there's no need for all those tacky arse permanent ads crapping up Tiger Stadium and all the other athletic venues.

Move that stuff to the digital advertising boards and scroll it on and off during the appropriate times during the games. (LSU worse by far than any other SEC school. )

Much like the government, they are not going to be giving money back so if LSU is making money on crappy ads they aren't about to take them down and give up that revenue.

You’re dumb if you think playing Oklahoma and Texas gives us a worse shot at the playoffs than Alabama and Auburn every year.

As someone who's been to every Alabama game from 2012-2020 home and away it is by far the most fun game of the year. I don't like the idea of running from them. I think that's a chicken shite attitude.

Well this is not about running from anyone, the SEC brass made this decision and the schedule will be changed, LSU has nothing to do with it. If you go 2 8 team Divisions West and East and Bama/Auburn go East. Your schedule is different period. LSU did nothing to run from anyone, it is the reality of the new 16 team SEC.

Even if you go PODS that the SEC Network proposed and go 3 Games POD +2+2+2 from each of the other 3 PODS in year 1 and 2, then the other 6 in year 3 and 4, you are not going to play some games that you use to play (Bama, Auburn, Florida) but you will see UGA/TENN/UK for example more often, etc.

A lot of this depends on how they organize the conference. Hopefully they realize we need to actually be a single conference instead of two separate conferences with cross conference playing agreement.

This means they should adapt either a pod system without any cross pod permanent games, or my preference, no divisions of any kind with 3 permanent opponents. Either would mean home and away games with every non permanent opponent over four years.

So if none of AL, AU, or FL is part of your pod or permanent games, you will only miss them every other year. But you will gain home and away with other teams that we rarely see now: e.g. GA TN, OK, TX.

If they don't frick up the organization, this is a good thing.

How do we know that they won't lump LSU and Alabama in the same pod though? I see everyone saying we won't get to play them every year but nothing is official. Based on the pod format sec network come up with all teams in the same pod play each other every year once.

Not likely they will pair 2 power houses in the same pod but never know. Alabama will probably get in the same pod as Mizzou and Vandy knowing their "luck."

Texas and OU are games that are immediately on par with Florida, Georgia, and Auburn

They are obviously big names, but I know we've never dropped 49 in the 1st half on Florida, Georgia or Auburn like we did to OU in the playoffs in 2019. I'm sure they'll hate us and we'll hate them in no time (they probably already hate us), but there really aren't any better series of games like those against Auburn and Florida in the last two decades. Even the Bama game has produced 4-5 classics in the last 10 years or so. That Texas game in 2019 was a great one though.

LSU isn't a winner in this arrangement - the SEC is the biggest winner, followed by Texas and Oklahoma. The SEC doesn't give a shite about LSU individually. LSU should look out for their best interests, just like Texas and Oklahoma are.

I like playng an SEC schedule. Games with UT and OU are fine but I don't want to play in the Big 8.

Preach it loud brother. This change sucks as did adding AnM and Missouri which made games with Tennessee and Georgia rare. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Tenn, Ole Miss, Georgia - that’s who I want to play year in year out not some hybrid SWC/Big 12 schedule.

I feel like Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida are going to see the frequency they play each other increase, and we're going to see an overall decrease amongst our best games. It'll be nice to play Georgia and Tennessee more, but again, the teams we've formed a strong relationship with over the last 30 years since the divisional split have been Bama, UF, and Auburn.

Kind of feels like LSU isn't exactly a winner in this new arrangement.
Agreed. And if the conference adds teams eastward...say 2 of FSU, Miami, Clemson, UCF or even somebody like West VA. or VA. Tech, what happens with the alignment? Go west young men! Does it not make sense that LSU (Arkansas too) gets pushed to the west when 2 are added like Ok State/TX Tech/Baylor to balance out the adds in the east? That would put us out/away from the other original SEC Schools and ESPN wouldn't give a shite! We would be in the New, Old, Southwest Conference! Where does this shite end after UT/OU and whatever the phuck the Aggies do?

It is pussy.

The Alabama game is the biggest LSU game every year. It’s the one LSU puts all their energy into (And why we typically lose every game after losing).

This merger is only good for the SEC if there is some plan to leave the NCAA. Having Texas and OU in the conference will only extremely muddy the water when it comes to playoff selection.

I know this board is full of purple tinted glasses homers. But people are DREAMING if theY think the committee will take a 2 or 3 loss LSU team over a 1 loss Pac12 team just cause the conference is stronger.

The SEC has always been the strongest conference. You could argue that 3 or 4 of the playoff spots could have already all came from the SEC. but they didn’t because it will never be decided that way.

As cool as it is adding OU and Texas, 2 national powerhouses, this move hurts LSU football. Not to mention will hurt recruiting because the Texas kids that avoided UT because of their lame conference aren’t going to need the SEC excuse to go to LSU anymore.

I’m only into this move if a whole new NFL style SEC league is being started (which would be sick)

If OU is constantly propped up as high as they typically are every season, and they win, when/if we play them, that benefits us. Provided we beat them.

It's just like playing Alabama or Florida, who are also usually ranked high. It's about who you play and who you beat.

Texas, eh, I don't see it. Not saying they're a doormat but they are typically way overhyped. For that matter, OU is as well but they've had more success than Texas.

If we don't have to play Alabama in the regular season, that helps us out. We're playing these other teams that are highly (typically) ranked. I'm wondering about any potential permanent 'rivals.' I hate having to play Florida and Alabama every year but again, it's about who you play and who you beat. See 2019.

Just win.

The rest of it will fall into place.

I completely agree.
The playoffs we’re exciting just bc my team was bulldozing over everyone, but the games throughout the season were epic.
There is also that part of me who perks up at the idea of not having to playing Bama so many times every year too. I hope we get to keep Florida or Auburn.
