I feel like we are getting left out in terms of the benefits of this merger.

Yes I am excited to potentially play in Austin and Norman regularly. Yes it's a big brand for the SEC and will likely secure our future in the midst of all of this uncertainty.

But dammit I love playing Alabama, Auburn, and Florida every year. We have legitimately good games with these teams and as much as we say we have no true rival, all of those schools love to beat us and hate to lose to us. I have never gone to one of those schools for a game and not witnessed this first hand amongst their fans. They bring massive crowds to our stadium because the game means something to them.

I feel like Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida are going to see the frequency they play each other increase, and we're going to see an overall decrease amongst our best games. It'll be nice to play Georgia and Tennessee more, but again, the teams we've formed a strong relationship with over the last 30 years since the divisional split have been Bama, UF, and Auburn.

Kind of feels like LSU isn't exactly a winner in this new arrangement.

I care about making it to the playoffs. This gives us a better chance of getting to the playoffs.

LSU not having to play Alabama every year until a championship game is a big win for the football program.

We will cash a bigger check. That’s all you need to know because that’s the only reason it’s going to happen.

Texas and OU are games that are immediately on par with Florida, Georgia, and Auburn. The only "loss" here is not playing Bama every year (until likely the title game).

No one gave a shite when A&M joined, and now its nearly as big of a game as Auburn or Florida. Give it 3 years and both Texas and OU vs LSU will be must see primetime mega games.

You have to assume that superconferences are coming whether you like it or not. Locking down two powerhouses like OU and UT, instead of letting them slip to another conference, guarantees the SEC will continue to be the top conference. Every member of the first, and best superconference is a winner.

But we could play them three times a year if we do the pod deal.

How exactly? The SEC already has a good reputation. We already get good enough SOS from being in the SECW. Depending on how the schedule is determined we could have to play an even harder schedule with two well funded programs, one of which is considered a blue-blood.

Call it pussy call it what you want but not having to play Alabama every year is a positive.

9-3 or 10-2 gets you into the dance. I didn’t see this move coming, but the writing was on the wall for the SEC to start absorbing teams if they chose. The tv deals just meant more money and now adding two brand teams adds more towards the pot.

The playoffs were the most boring part about 2019. I was at the SECCG, Peach Bowl, and National championship. Those games were straight up boring. Our regular season games against Florida, Auburn, and Alabama were far more enjoyable as a fan.

How does this give us a better chance at making the playoffs? Making our schedule easier? I don't really want to win by avoiding the best competition. That's the whole reason I'm a fan, to watch good games.

What kind of drugs are you on where beating a team that won 29 in a row to cap off the greatest single season of all time is boring?

I just don't understand this thinking. That game is the highlight of the season. It is not a win for the program to ditch them as an opponent. We lose one of the best games on not only our schedule, but the sports entire schedule.

Because outside of the first couple of drives we never were in danger of losing. It was obvious basically after the first quarter we were going to crush them.

It would be nice to have a year where we don’t have to have a slugfest with Bama smack dab in the middle of our schedule.

No they aren't. We have historic and cultural rivalries with those schools. We have almost no history with Texas or Oklahoma. This will be exciting at first but get stale somewhat quickly compared to playing the founding SEC members as regularly.

The playoff was fun at first, then get very boring very quickly. I suspect the same as this.

In five or ten years, what will the playoffs even look like?
No one really knows. I bet the 12 team deal dies.
How can you say we will have an easier path if you don’t even know how the conference is going to be revamped much less how the playoffs will be formulated?

As someone who's been to every Alabama game from 2012-2020 home and away it is by far the most fun game of the year. I don't like the idea of running from them. I think that's a chickenshit attitude.

YES

Instead of having ONE Alabama that gets everything they want, you'll now have TWO

We had that last year and it wasn’t much fun.
