The situation he was put in required that type of contract. His major failure was untrusting Kelly to get the job down down here. Say what you want but Scott has us winning at a high level with the exception of football. He’s the AD not just the football athletic president.

I wlll play. Kim Mulkey makes what? $3M per?

What does WBB lose per year with that salary?

Jay Johnson is by far his best hire.

We are terrible at the only sport that matters outside of football

Because of the extension he gave (see number 8 largest buyout in history)

Also. If he conducts a proper search rather than trying to win the press conference then maybe we get a better coach for cheaper

But Scott is the best fundraiser LSU's AD has ever had.

fair point.
but how much has his bad decisions cost LSU in revenue. FB now has to come up with 30mil?,

did scott extend O after the natty?

basketball coach is gonna get shite canned with a big buyout. think about the lost revenue basketball has. lost ticket sales, lost concessions etc.
CMM should not have gotten year 4, he's trying to save face on that.

a change is needed...

He killed the basketball program and saddled football with a horrible contract. Time to go.

He did. This is what happens when you are told to get a national championship coach at any cost by the people in power. Then those same people increased and extended the contract AFTER Scott Woodward was at LSU.

and then again in 2021

I believe that the Lincoln Riley Contract was the winner that year, at 10 years, 110 million with an 80 million buyout clause. Which other coaches were poached from a perenial top 10 team for the 2022 season?

How many years does Jay Johnson have to stay to offset the losses created by Mulkey’s contract?

Jay will have to stay years after Mulkey retires just to break even.

Hanging your hat on these two hires, hires that result in a net loss every year, is so weak.

The schools have very little leverage in these negotiations. If you hated what Kelly got wait till we go after Lane or whatever big name coach. Look what Indiana just paid. You need them ,they don’t need you. Ole Miss will match whatever until you’re back at 100m again.

I’ve changed my mind a bit on Woodward. I was hoping he’d be out but I’d be fine with Woodward remaining AD *IF* he’s not the guy with ultimate say in the hiring process.

He's gone. They're putting out feelers for AD candidates.

You heard correct. Woodward overlooked a lot of what Kelly was and was not doing. When the LSU board started sniffing around to see why the team did not seem to be running on all cylinders they got an eyeful of what Woodard was letting Kelly to get away with. Without a President and with Woodard allowing Kelly to get away with, Landry took the lead by default.

Some of the same people saying no 10-year deal/ not 10 mil per year are also advocating for poaching Kiffin or Lanning. Either of those guys would be looking for 10 years guaranteed and probably closer to $15 mil than $10 mil per.

Firing Scott Woodward is very risky. As badly as he handled Will Wade and men’s basketball, I still think he has done a good job overall.

Hiring a shitty men’s basketball replacement
Doing zero due diligence on Kelly and not knowing he was ready to mail it in
Giving Orgeron a massive buyout when in reality no one wanted to hire that clown anyway
Getting in bed with a sleaze bag developer on the new basketball arena

The donors want Woodward gone. His great fundraising will stop if the donors no longer trust him. The donors are directing Landry what to do Landry doesn’t like Woodward because he is a JBE guy and the woke stuff but Landry is just executing the big money people’s plan. If a new AD is installed they will have no problem fundraising. Rousse is a big supporter of athletics and he will get men’s basketball on track after the football situation is resolved

How many schools/teams were beating down the door for orgeron when Woodward gave him that idiotic extension/buyout?

Hindsight and 20-20 you know. I can't imagine why BK wandered off the Dedication Reservation, but at the time he was hired, it wasn't an unreasonable selection considering who was in the pool. Sure we had the table set for a Red Snapper and ended up catching an Alligator Gar, but perfection only happens in people's imagination and fantasies, not real life.
