the fact remains that LSU should be going to the Cap 1. Picking Bama over LSU is a slap to Tiger Nation.

Give it a rest. You're just pissed cause you live close to the Cap 1 dump. Be honest.

I understand it's a bigger payout and that there's new turf but I don't want the Tigers to go back to that shite stain of a stadium in Orlando. I hated driving by that place when I lived in Orlando. It couldn't be in a worse area.
I called in sick to go to the '04 game when we played Iowa and it was so crappy I turned around and went home. I didn't want to get anywhere near it.

Umm, it's 6.5 hours drive time from BR to Dallas, and over 10 hours from BR to Orlando. Do the math

I hadn't thought of that. Would be cool for LSU to return to Jerry World in the Fall as the last college team to win in that stadium.

To me, playing against a # 18 Aggies in our bowl game, and being happy about it shows the true regression of this program, despite the current record. I was proud of our season, until I clearly see just how ugly our ten wins were to be playing who we are playing in the cotton bowl. There are other years where I think the cotton bowl would be a good match up. It's a throw away game this year, and they've put us in it. That should tell you something.

Sombody call the whambulance. Cotton will be the next BCS bowl. This is not a sign of any "regression". Oh no, 10-2, here comes the Hallman years pt. 2.

Playing the only game that day > playing the 6am bowl on a stacked tv sched

Dude, stop crying. We had a 10 win season but the way that the SEC shook down this year resulted in us being the #3 SEC West team. Some years a 10 win season will get you into the Sugar Bowl. Once it got us into the NCCG. This year, it didn't work out too well. Why are you even bringing up DiNardo? Do you realize how ridiculous and inapplicable that parallel is? We had 10 freaking wins. The team who is going to the Cap One Bowl isn't ranked as highly as we are, and we beat them. I don't think that accepting the Cotton bid has anything to do with lower expectations, rather, it's about the proximity to the University, the stadium in which it will be played, and our fans being sick of going to Orlando. Not to mention, the old timers respect the Cotton Bowl more. It has been going on since 1937 without changing names. Further, playing Texas A&M is cool just because we don't really play them anymore and they are one state over. I know people from A&M and I will undoubtedly phone them up and start the smack flowing. I don't know anyone who went to Michigan State.

To sum everything up: you need to take a chill pill because you are looking for something to complain about when you have no justified reason to do so, much like a spoiled child. The Cotton Bowl and the Capital One Bowl are not that different. I would rather play Texas A&M than Michigan State. I don't care about Michigan State.

The Cotton Bowl is in PRIMETIME, FRIDAY night. It's going to draw a far larger TV audience, including potential recruits than a 10am bowl New Year's day when many are nursing hangovers. The Cotton used to be one of the 4 major bowls and still has significance because of it's history. There's no snub and wgaf, we're ahead of bama in the SEC, that won't change.

So LSU can play Jan 1 and be one of 4 games playing, start at 12 pm after parting on New Years Eve, play on a crappy field, be on cable, and get over shadowed by bigger games.

OR...they can have a stand alone game, start at 7 pm, play in a cathedral, on network TV, and lead that network into the wild card round of the NFl Playoffs.

The schools share the excess bowl revenue. I can assure you that any SEC school that plays in the Sugar Bowl will have much hgher expenses than a school that plays in the Music City Bowl.

So, the NET to LSU is $0 in both cases. The players can go play in the finest damn stadium in the country or a shithole they played in last year.

Okay I get your rationale. As an example: You would rather play in the Chicken Bowl in Atlanta rather than the Orange or Rose since Atlanta has a nicer stadium.

You are delusional. Again comparing apples to peanuts as someone said earlier. Capital One is not more prestigious than the Cotton. If you can't comprehend that, I can't help you out.

Either way, I don't need to try to make you look dumb, because you do a much better job of it yourself.

Playing in a BCS bowl then New Years Day bowl then everything else. The Cotton is just a glorified GMAC Bowl

that i a VERY POOR point since this was stated about the new 1.2MM plus artificaial turf field in that stadium.
Included in the upgrades are a new $1.2 million artificial surface — AstroTurf’s Gameday Grass 3-D, which is the same synthetic field installed before this season by the St. Louis Rams and Buffalo Bills.

Dear Mr. Jester,

If the Cotton Bowl is more prestigous than the Cap 1 Bowl then how come the payout is less??

If the Cotton Bowl is more prestigous than the Cap 1 Bowl then how come they pick after the Cap 1 Bowl???
