Disappointing. Sat along right field line in 104. Did not feel like a typical super regional.

They do serve alcohol inside DKR. Beer stands all over the lower level and I sat in Section 2 on UT side near goal line on Saturday and had the beer guy stopping by frequently. Pretty damn convenient. Not sure when they went live with this but it is in place.
Now it's coming back to me -- you are right, the "Chief" and the Mike encounter did appear to be staged. But it did get the crowd pumped up when Mike pseudo-stabbed Chief and then broke the spear over his knee.
Was also in student section, don't remember Chief getting pelted (could have happened, I had depleted the Jack Daniels supply by then) but do remember the oranges raining down as the blowout progressed. Didn't Chief come out on the field in the pregame with his flaming spear and Mike ran over and broke it? Crowd was in a frenzy. Had a friend run to a payphone to call his bookie to double his bet on the Tigers - no way we were going to lose that game.
Wickersham. Um, I don't think so.
Saw the Tigers 14u at a USSSA Super NIT in Shreveport in March. Pretty stout bunch. One kid was rumored to have already been "offered" by Turtle Thomas at FIU as an 8th grader. Don't know if that is true or not but the kid could play (a shortstop/pitcher I believe).

ESPN said if Miles was offered, he would go. Just because he is staying, doesn't mean he was offered.

Give me a frickin break. Go on believing that. It's all semantics. If people want to get cute to say that Brandon's visit didn't result in an "offer", they are delusional. The parameters of an offer were most certainly discussed. Brandon probably said "here is what we are prepared to do to make you the UM coach." Miles probably reflected on it, whether it was money, LSU's current strength versus UM's, for whatever reason he didn't give a yes/no on the spot, went back to LSU for what he wants/needs to be revised in his deal, then LSU made its announcement today. Look, it happens all the time in business -- if I make you this offer, will you accept -- if "yes" the offer is made. If a "no" or "I don't know yet" -- then I won't go through the trouble of getting final approval for an offer that you may not accept. Also allows me to save face by not appearing to get rejected.

It probably wasn't high on Les' list to stick it to ESPN, I don't think he thinks that way, but it sure feels good for those of us Tiger fans to live vicariously through his rejection of UM and in the process "stick it to ESPN" with their once again shoddy reporting. Never ceases to amaze what the media will report as "fact" or "our very reliable sources say" when in many times, nothing could be further off base.
70 / 30. Deafening up through the 10-0 lead. Their noise backed off once we scored. They thought they were going to rout us. I had three 18 yr old aggie bimbos behind me who were shrieking "wrecking crew" in a high pitched squeal. By the third quarter, their noise was not a factor in the least. By Q4, quiet as, well, a sick border collie.
Good post. Was in sec 227. I think, however, the Aggie fans had us outnumbered 3:1. When they got up 10-0 it was unbelievably loud in their favor. Glad we got it turned around -- we took their crowd out of the game. By early 3rd quarter, they knew they were looking at a L. Loved seeing them leave early. Geaux Tigers

Went to Cowboys-Eagles last Sun. night -- pat down under the armpits and back behind the belt.

The prices are indeed sobering.

My advice to you: drink heavily before the game.

Napoleon, gimme some of your tots
I believe the demise of the SWC helped LSU, but it's one of probably several factors. Don't know the exact number of top recruits we get out of TX now, versus the 80's, but it seems to be on the rise. To the extent the breakup of the SWC hurt A&M and increased LSU's ability to recruit better in A&M's back yard (Hou. and East TX), then yes the two are related. But I don't think we ever really recruited much against the others UH, Baylor, TCU, TT, etc. for top TX recruits; mainly the Ags and UT.

The Pony Excess piece on ESPN is pretty good. Hard to believe how corrupt things were then. Surely it still exists but one has to believe (or hope) the magnitude of the cheating is significantly less now.

Think I heard the team was staying at the Anatole. It's a good hotel. Without traffic, 25-30 min. to Arlingon (about 20 mi). Leave at 4pm or so on Fri to beat I-30 rush hour traffic.

You could stay in Arlington but staying in Dallas or FW would be more fun. Anatole is a good option.
Texas looked so pathetic at times, it really looks like they gave up. Some injuries and a rookie QB but the leadership was awful. If the recruiting rankings are anywhere close to being correct, then Mack and his minions really bungled this year. Which explains why heads are rolling in Austin.
