Josh Williams - 12 carries, 51 yards, 4.3 avg
Noah Cain - 6 carries, 31 yards, 5.2 avg
Kaleb Jackson - 2 carries, 15 yards, 7.5 avg, 1 td
Harold Perkins, Jr. - 1 carry, 1 yard, 1.0 avg, 1 td
Logan Diggs - 1 carry, 1 yard, 1.0 avg
Trey Holly - 1 carry, 0 yards, 0.0 avg

I really had high hopes we'd see at worst a steady dose of Diggs and, at best, a preview of what Kaleb Jackson would look like getting 10-15 carries. Instead we get 18/25 carries by Josh Williams and Noah Cain.

I love Josh Williams' effort and what he means to the team, so I'm not too surprised/upset about him getting half the looks, but Cain being the primary backup was nonsensical to me.

It’s not a mystery the young guys are not good blockers.

Kaleb Jackson was by far the most productive.
I really really hope that he’s featured more next year. He’s an absolute monster and looks the part. We haven’t had an RB that looks like him in far too long.

Diggs got injured on his 1 carry

No idea why Kaleb didn't get the ball more

He’s probably the best at blocking assignments and knowing the playbooks in general.

I was looking forward to seeing the young rbs get after it. I got excited for Jackson then they benched him.

Diggs got hurt, playing from behind with a first time starter at QB - I think you could end the thread at they wanted the best blockers in the game.

You can’t compare the YPC between guys with 12 and 2 carries.

Williams and Cain were fine and are better blockers at this point.

Josh is the best multi-purpose back. Best pass blocker and receiver.

Cain is the strongest back and our OL was not getting a push. He's also a SR so Kelly probably wanted to let him finish with some carries.

Maybe that means Diggs is returning. Kaleb needs to start getting a lot more reps though.

Then run the ball, or have them slip out for a pass instead of blocking.
I don't want Kaleb Jackson blocking.

It’s not hard to see that Williams is our best pass blocker and probably the most trust worthy back we got with the ball

The gameplan was "keep Nuss comfortable and off of his butt." This requires a running back who knows his blocking assignments and hot routes. Freshmen rarely fulfill this requirement.

So was Alabama. And they were playing a freshman running back.

I cannot understand the RB usage in the bowl game

Simple, two offensive coordinators in their first game . Just happens to be a bowl game, with a quarterback making his first start, playing catch up.

Not to mention you have your two all American wide receivers you would like to utilize.

I would imagine whoever the coordinator is will use the offseason to implement, more of a run oriented offense with a lot of play action pass. Nuss does not have the legs that Daniel's had.

So imagine they're going to use the offseason to work on blocking schemes and two tight end formations. Expect a lot of dinking and dunking, crossing routes.

Barring injury I would imagine Mason Taylor will have a career season next year.

I wanted to see a Jackson get a most of the carries but when we were in throwing mode, Williams was stoning their rushers. It was awesome. It got to the point where they were hesitant in their rush because he was laying the wood
