They were playing from behind.

Wilson trusts the upperclassmen

Simple explanation- Josh is the best all purpose back on the team. Running, catching and blocking. We weren’t trying to salt the game, we were trying to catch up and win.

Then run the ball, or have them slip out for a pass instead of blocking.
I don't want Kaleb Jackson blocking.

This is kind of strategy that wins at an elite level.

We were playing from behind the whole game baw

This explains why we didn't run more often.

It does not explain why they selected the players they did when we did run it .That was the point of this whole thread.

I really had high hopes we'd see at worst a steady dose of Diggs and, at best, a preview of what Kaleb Jackson would look like getting 10-15 carries. Instead we get 18/25 carries by Josh Williams and Noah Cain. I love Josh Williams' effort and what he means to the team, so I'm not too surprised/upset about him getting half the looks, but Cain being the primary backup was nonsensical to me.

Diggs got dinged early and never came back in.

As for Cain, I’m pretty sure this was his last collegiate game. And he ran hard when he got the ball. He came to LSU when we really needed players and I think those carries were to reward him for his service, even if it was just as a depth guy this season.

This was very concerning. Do we KNOW they're actually good at their job? Or as good as we thought they were. I'm afraid Jayden's game/talent may have masked a good bit of their weakness.

Meh. We stuck with mostly running power even with Denbrock gone and that means the Center has to be getting a good push. Turner has done the most with what he has, but he just doesn’t have elite strength, even though he has added some size. He was struggling vs Wisconsin and it was easy to see. Until Nuss backed their defense off by hitting some intermediate and long passes, they were able to easily contain those middle runs.

Whoever the OC is next year, I want to see more variety in the run game. Run off-tackle and attack the edges, not just the middle.

Williams and Cain were fine and are better blockers at this point.

Yeah, I thought Cain ran the ball better than all year, and WIlliams did what he does, just churns out yardage and keeps you in pretty good shape regarding down and distance.

He needs to provide better protection for the QB on passing plays. Other than that I think he’s an All American

I'll take some down votes for this but JW is a liability running the ball. A faster running back would have ate up Wisconsin. I'll be glad to see him, Diggs and Cain leave.

It’s not a mystery the young guys are not good blockers

It is a travesty what youth sports and HS does to kids who are the best athletes on their teams and or campus.

So little time is spent developing a player because easy street is just letting them go be physically better than everyone for the sake of a W.

One thing I think goes unheralded is Josh Williams’s ability in blitz pick up. Dude stonewalls folks and has thrown key blocks in the run game as well. Kid is crucial.

Wait Josh Williams is coming back next year?

I appreciate the hard work and effort but he's a STs-level guy and I fear our coaches get senioritis with him next year (like this bowl game).
