The problem isn’t that Daniels didn’t produce yards, it is the throws he didn’t make. It’s the open receivers he didn’t see or just didn’t throw to. His running and scrambling was spectacular. His field vision and/or commitment to throw was not.

That was his 3rd season as a starter, false comparison.

Daniels had some amazing moments and or games last season. What hurts him the most with our fanbase is that when he was off………..:he looked a lot like a Less Miles QB Trying not to lose and not pushing the ball down the field. Except our offense last season wasn’t built for the RB to go for 120 yards every game. I think Daniels will be awesome this fall. We shall see.

You put a lot of work into this post and I appreciate it. JD did a very good job and I even got used to him picking up first downs with his legs. We all got frustrated with seeing guys open down the field. Letting games stay close when we could separate. Making our opponents become one dimensional and helping our D.

From the spring game it looked like he was extremely comfortable in this offense. I’m looking forward to his progress.

Joe Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, and Marshall were so much fun. It will dilute our opinions forever. We can still support and cheer for JD, Thomas, Lacy, and Nabers.

He is a great runner and a worse passer then a sophomore Max Johnson.

Literally every single LSU fan would 100% be expecting a national championship and undefeated season this year. I’m still flabbergasted that some fans still want JD to be benched.

This old story. Bro, he just needs to stop being scared of throwing it downfield. He has the arm and needs to trust it. He can be unstoppable.

The short answer would be the comparison of JD and Brandon Harris.

The reason being is the how many times throughout the game the "throw the f'ing ball" meter was in the red.

He was in a new system, on a new team, with a new staff from top to bottom. Hard for any QB or player for that mater to be elite 100% of the time.

This season I believe JD should light it up. All the pieces are in place on offense for a spectacular year numbers wise.

he was sacked 43 times. that stat needs to improve drastically. his other stats were decent to good imo.

Bottom line- he failed to read the defenses.

And let’s face it, he threw more 50/50 balls up down the field & let our 1st round draft pick WRs go get it

This I don't agree with. When a DB is running step for step with a WR but has his back to the QB, a well thrown ball is NOT 50/50. That's a ball the receiver will catch 10 times as often as it's intercepted. Corey Webster and Derrick Stingley's great interceptions against Georgia are great examples of the occasional interception.

Hell, Myles was throwing for 300+ yards per game and people still hated him.

While I think it’s unfair and unrealistic to hold Daniels to Burrow’s standards, the way this board held Myles to Burrow’s standards was on another level. Some people legitimately expected him to match Burrow.

if I remember correctly I think 3 of the 5 lineman went on to start year one in the NFL

It was even better than that. Yeah, three started year one: Lewis, Cushenberry and Ingram started game 1. But Saadiq Charles also won the starting job in his first camp, but got injured, otherwise that would be four! Plus Deculus and Hines areon NFL rosters and Magee was a borderline NFL guy.

That's six guys on NFL rosters with four starters and a seventh guy kicking around. That Joe Moore trophy wasn't a fluke. That was the best line in college football. And if you don't believe it rewatch the Bama game from 2019, and pay attention to the line. They pushed Bama around all night.

As good as Burrow was and he is a generational type QB but he did have the advantage to a new offense from LSU finally opening it up and had great talent everywhere….not just the receivers but CEH fit that offense perfectly plus if I remember correctly I think 3 of the 5 lineman went on to start year one in the NFL.

I agree. As the years go on, I become more amazed by the collection of talent we had on that 2019 team.

Burrow is good enough that I’m confident we would see him as the GOAT LSU QB with just about any LSU roster surrounding him. But when you look at the supporting cast.. it’s nuts.

Three year-1 NFL starting OL (four if you count Charles, who got injured). Year-1 NFL starting RB. Three NFL WRs including two year-1 Pro Bowl WRs. We all know how good JJ and Chase were, but the idea of having two WRs who would go on to make the Pro Bowl as rookies along with a generational QB just makes my head spin.

Adrian Magee and Thad Moss are the only starters from the 2019 offense who aren’t on active NFL rosters right now. That’s insane.

All of this to say that yeah, Burrow is tGOAT. But the supporting cast might be what takes him from having a great season to a historical season. I don’t know if we will ever see a collection of talent like that again.

Even when JD wasn't throwing for tons of yards, he was able to make plays to keep us in games & win most of them.

And while offensive styles evolve, thus rendering stats across different eras faulty, one thing doesn’t change - wins vs losses. JD led LSU to an SEC West title. That means something. First year head coach, first year at a school running a new offense, JD did a hell of a job. Looking forward to watching him this season with a year under his belt.

Rohan and JaMarcus were two QBs I thoroughly enjoyed watching in the early 2000's. I fully expect Jayden to throw for the second most yards in program history this year with the emphasis on throwing the ball down the field this year with all of our offensive weapons.
