<—— In ‘17 wanted Paul Dietzel or Henry Frnka to get the LSU HBC over O.

On record on TD as I recall.

Herman may have had a lot of success at LSU for all we know.

He likely retains Amanda and our 2017 offense is likely better. Would also have still landed Burrow so anything is possible.

Objectively speaking we likely still win the title in 2019 and the program is likely still thriving with Herman.

All well said about Jimbo, but we can't be a recycled program. Jimbo is an Aggie and Lane is a Rebel. We need our own coach that is not a musical chair SEC incumbent.
agree...Jimbo wouldn't leave and Kiffin will leverage LSU to get a huge raise at Ole Miss...

he won 10 games every year at FSU except for 2, his last year and this 2nd when he went 9-4. He also developed multiple QBs.

And he left FSU just as that program was heading for the abyss.

I have reservations about both Jimbo (not that I believe he’s a realistic option anyway) and Kiffin - Jimbo because of the state of FSU’s program when he left and Lane because it would be his 5th job in 9 years.

That being said, I don’t really see why it matters that their current gigs are at other SEC schools. Of the 14 SEC head coaches:
- 3 were hired directly from other SEC schools
- 4 had previous head coaching gigs in the SEC

Every coach has to come from somewhere. As long as they are the right fit, I only care where they are currently coaching as far as it relates to their overall resume/qualifications.

the thing that's mainly changed with him is he has shown a little bit of immaturity on the sideline and his play calling has proven to be mediocre.

Well if he was immature in 2017 then he’s probably more mature now.
His understanding of the game is likely better now.

I’m not sure he’s not a better all around coach now than he was then.

It’s just interesting that people want this guy or that guy but the same guy that a lot of fans wanted just a few years ago is not even considered a viable option but he’s probably better qualified now than he was then

Virtually all the Ed O haters were Tom Herman homers.

I realize Jimbo just beat Bama, but I am still not sold on that guy.

What has he won when he didn't have Jameis Winston as his QB?

And what went on in his marriage is a pretty big red flag for me.

Jimbo and FSU's admin had a falling out. He pretty much checked out waiting for the next job. His intensity at AnM is completely different. They lost their starting QB which led to some losses. You can't deny he has AnM in a good spot. A much better spot than we are in. And he beat BAMA without a heisman winning QB.

I wanted Jimbo. Herman was not at the top of my list but I would have taken him in a heartbeat over O.

Me. Which is why I'm not throwing names out this year. Just gonna put my trust in Woody and watch the rest of the games and pull for the players and the team for now

I would have loved either Jimbo or Herman. Still think either one would have killed it here. LSU is not a hard place to win at

Above Orgeron? Me.

Given that Joe Burrow was recruited by Herman at Ohio St, I think there's a very good chance we end up with him anyway. Herman would've kept Aranda, and those two were the main reasons we won the NC. I don't know why people tie O to the NC, it should be clear at this point he had nothing to do with it.

But there are coaches I wanted just as much as Herman, namely Fleck, Chip Kelly, Dave Aranda. Basically O was the very last coach I wanted.

O won a freaking NC and will have made it one additional year longer than Herman. Now that's sad. Besides Chizik who has gotten less mileage out of a NC?
