However, what these last few years have done is make it easy for me to give up on the season when things go off the rails.

If players have no loyalty but to the highest bidder, then they deserve no loyalty in return. Albeit for many it might be their best shot in life re moving up the relative affluence ladder. Bird in the hand. While it lasts.

I think the playoffs will be exciting but, I no longer care about games like I used to. I had 8 season tickets on the 40 for 20 years, lower level row O now I have none. I would say I have less interest!

NIL and the targeting rule are the only components of college football I sort of disagree with. Everything adds another layer of chaos

I’m done until there’s some semblance of order with how NIL is governed. It’s sucked all the fun out of it. For God’s sakes, I started watching F1 racing this past year this crap is so stupid.

Maybe I’m an old fart, but college football has evolved into a cash grab with NO allegiance, loyalty or commitment to anything but yourself.

I’m getting to the point to where I don’t want to follow college football in any way shape or form.
Anyone else getting to that point?

I'm to that point but I'll never do it. I love it too much.

Will repeat a point I made 6 months ago: the USFL tried to sell me something called the “New Orleans Breakers”. Familiar helmets and jerseys but I have no idea if ANY owners, coaches or players had ANY connection to New Orleans and I never tuned in

I’ve made arguments about the same subject, but a little differently. I’ve said that if you took every D1 football player and put them in the UFL, then took every D2 player and put them on D1 rosters, nothing would change. The talent level in the UFL is superior, hell, it already is, but nobody goes to those games. We go to LSU games for the experience and to cheer on the Tigers. I’m not there to cheer for random individuals.

This happens in baseball. Triple A teams are much better than college baseball teams, but triple A teams aren’t drawing the crowds you see in the SEC.

I still watch for the Louisiana kids, but it’s harder to keep up with who we have on our roster. I hope they can somehow cap the nil, and put some kind of limitations on the transfers. Does anyone even care about the kids entering the portal that don’t find a new school?

The college football world needs a bunch of these kids to be major busts. Starting with Underwood. Even billionaires don’t like flushing money down the toilet.

I love LSU football with a passion, but all this portal nonsense , NIL, recruits having no loyalty to their commitment , and current/past players having no loyalty to our team has put a sour taste in my mouth.
This is a serious question:

Has anyone actually looked at comparative stats when it was just "regular" transfers vs the current set up? I would not be surprised at all if it wasn't all that different.

I have lost faith in the system. It is no longer based on any type of value. Integrity, support, and development have been replace by greed and deception. At the end of the day the athletes that think they have won by getting paid are actually the losing pawns of greed. Most NFL plays are bankrupt after they retire - where do we think 18 year olds with savvy adults looming are going to end up. College football is supposed to prepare men for life not set them up for failure. Where I came from you earn something before it is handed to you. I really just can’t get behind this.

This is the only time you will ever hear these words come from me but here goes “the government needs to step in and in force salary caps. “ this is the only way to level the playing field.

Yep NCAA fumbled the whole deal with NIL and the whole system is a complete joke. Plus they decided to force this 12 team playoff shite down our throats that will eventually go to 16 then who knows from there. If we wanted to watch the NFL we would just watch the NFL we don’t need the NFL and then another mini NFL with a bunch of dumbass young kids that don’t know their arse from a hole in the ground holding every school hostage and running from town to town every year seeking more money when they haven’t done shite.

Use to be a diehard sports fan. Baseball, basketball and football at the pro and college level. Now I am just a casual watcher.

Between politics being introduced and over inflating their influence as anything other than entertainment has turned me and many others off.

It isn’t the same game anymore. I find myself more interested in the NFL now for the first time. At least the NFL had a draft. CFB is just a cluster frick. Top prospects are just mercenaries. Then, you expand the playoff to get more teams in than usual and generate interest, and the committee just puts a shitty Bama team on anyway. It’s dumb.

I use to love it, now it doesn't interest me. Transfer portal, NIL, all the recruiting antics, I guess it's me matching energy. I go with my dad and will till he doesn't go anymore, then I'm sure that will be it for me.

Put me down there. Turning to baseball. I'll keep up with football, but the passion is gone from me for it due to the state of the game now. Congress pretty much destroyed the game. There will be 5 or 6 teams unless some massive changes are implemented.
