Better idea is to move the track team somewhere and put a new arena on the corner of Nicholson and south stadium

Where will the Track team practice and competes until they build a new track facility?

I would think if that is part of the plan. The new track facility would have to be complete before you tear down the old track facility. I don't know much about building a track facility but I wouldn't think it would take a extreme amount of time.

Idk if y’all have ever seen this guys videos, but he covers top college sports facilities around the country. I linked two of the top ones in the nation right now.

Also, if y’all wanna see something really cool check out his Oregon T&F tour. Would love to see LSU have something comparable. Oregon T&F facility

Probably 2-3 years and they would probably play at the River Center.

In Louisiana? The Denham Springs elementary school opened today after the 2016 flood. It took them 5 years and I'd say a new arena is a little more complicated than classrooms and a cafeteria. Born and raised in BR but left to seek fortune 50 years ago. Is it still driven by corruption?

how about refurbishing the Cow Palace as a temporary facility while rebuilding the Maravich...

They probably wouldn't want to invest the amount of work that would have to go into doing that when they have a place downtown readily available.

Since someone mentioned Baylor’s new proposed arena, this is what they announced a few weeks ago.

Not sure exactly how far away from campus it is.

“The new $185 million home for Baylor's championship men's and women's basketball teams will be located along the Brazos River on the west side of Interstate-35 adjacent to the University's Clifton Robinson Tower, which will remain. “

“Construction on the Foster Pavilion is expected to begin in June 2022 with an early opening of the pavilion targeted for January 2024. The Development Center's opening is anticipated in April 2024."

That site is actually closer to the on campus dorms than the current arena, and the "on campus" site supported by Mulkey was still further away. The claim that choosing the site on the other side of I-35 will be bad for student attendance is silly. There are a few apartments that might be within walking distance of the site favored by Mulkey, but no dorms. Parking is the real question for the chosen site, because it won't be surrounded by a sea of asphalt, but other downtown arenas seem to make it work.

You are confusing tax dollars with TAF dollars. Take the government out of most problems and problems are fixed.

Are there major problems with the cow palace? If not, way cheaper than renting the downtown money pit.

Why not just gut the PMAC and redesign the interior instead of demolishing it? It looks great from the outside. It’s in the perfect location. Demolishing it makes no sense.

You can’t compare. FEMA paid for part of that school and LPSB had to fight with them to get them to approve it causing delays.

the PMAC is not great. Theres not really one great thing about it.
The bathrooms arent big enough, the concourses are too narrow, the seats are too far from the court, there isnt much premium seating, which would bring in a ton of revenue.
The only great feature is the video boards

Just my point. Nothing is really wrong with the Pmac in its current state. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The more government involvement, the more problems created. It ain't rocket science.

Water level is too high. That is what prevents big projects from going down there.
