re: How long would it take to build a new basketball arena?

I would consider knocking down Cow Palace and rebuild a bsketball only arena for men and women there. Could leave PMAC for gymnastics and still play games there while other arena is built.
I realize basketball would be removed from their practice facility, but they could build a new one next to new arena. There is enough parking between where Cow Palace is located and CEBA/motorhome lots nearby.
Probably won't do it, but this would be my preference.

frick that. Knock down the PMAC before knocking down the Cow Palace. Such a cool architectural gem

I would prefer a PMAC demolition to a remodel, bu the thought of playing off campus for 1-2 years is not appealing at all to me.

Meh the River center would be fine in a pinch. Would be well worth it. Having to play downtown for a year or two isnt a reason to knock down the cow palace IMHO

Luckily for you I think LSU agrees with you.

I think this would be kinda cool for a year or two honestly. It's an intimate little venue for basketball.

Around 8500

Does anyone have any idea what they would do with Mike's habitat? That would seem to be the bigger headache than the track and you definitely couldn't leave him there during major renovations.

They’ll just use it as an excuse to jack prices up on tickets and parking and shitty concessions at the games for all sports and take 5 years to complete the building.

The state of money issues doesn’t mean state money issues.??

Same location would take 3 years minimum for a full teardown, dig out, and rebuild. But the bones are in great shape so an impressive renovation can be done in 1.5 tops. That's what we need and will likely get. Hope I get to work on it.

I doubt we get a new arena but I could see a lot of money towards a complete renovation

Since someone mentioned Baylor’s new proposed arena, this is what they announced a few weeks ago.
Not sure exactly how far away from campus it is.
“The new $185 million home for Baylor's championship men's and women's basketball teams will be located along the Brazos River on the west side of Interstate-35 adjacent to the University's Clifton Robinson Tower, which will remain. “
“Construction on the Foster Pavilion is expected to begin in June 2022 with an early opening of the pavilion targeted for January 2024. The Development Center's opening is anticipated in April 2024.”

Agreed, but structurally it's deficient. That's why the only renovation plans released have been to build a new building within the existing structure.

A track stadium could be build relatively cheaply.
Nothing can be built cheaply anymore and the track surface alone is a few million dollars. LSU track definitely needs a new indoor track.

Build new Basketball Arena on top of the current Track Facility. Continue playing in the PMAC until new arena is completed then tear down the existing PMAC.
So you think there is enough room to construct an entire areana on the track without effecting the current structure of the PMAC?
Not even remotely possible

This would be the absolute dumbest and stupidest thing. What a great home atmosphere, going from 14,000 fans to 5,000. Brilliant.
ITS ABSOLUTELY frickING TIME TO STOP THIS OBSESSION WITH A THE PMAC OR BUILDING A NEW ARENA. IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN. THE PMAC IS GREAT AS WAS WINESSED THIS PAST THURSDAY AND SATURDAY.

I’m glad I finally see a ton of people saying to play at the Centroplex while they build a new arena. I’ve been riding solo saying that forever on here. Everyone is finally coming around.

So our head coach didn’t say the roof was leaking and we didn’t have hot water?
Bro, it’s time. The fact that we have ZERO premium seating for this basketball program is absurd.

The Centroplex seats 9,000. Kind of like Auburn…
