Geauxgurt, this no way around my lapse of memory. Denbrock is great!

No. He is not.

He's good, but he is not top 3.

ND beat 8&4 and USC with their backup/shittier QBs (one of those QBs we dominated ourself) They also beat UGA with their backup QB

You may or may not be right. However, I think it is worth noting Denbrock this year, just like last year, who was a capable and willing runner. LSU averaged significantly more yards per game than ND, was a significantly better passing team, and was 4th in the nation on 3rd down conversion % (with no running game).

The point is, while I do think Sloan's approach to the running game was a BIG reason for the poor production there, would Denbrock have had as much success at LSU this year without a running threat at QB? Leonard has 167 rushing attempts this year (most on the team). Daniels had nearly 140 attempts last year. Obviously Nuss wasn't going to come anywhere close to those numbers, so could Denbrock have adjusted to fit an offense that was largely reliant on the passing game without any running threat whatsoever at QB?

Beginning with his time at Cincinnati as OC in 2017 through today there was only one season where he didn't have a QB who was also a capable runner. That was in 2017. UC was ranked 111th in scoring offense that season. I think Denbrock would have had a good year at LSU this season. But it's hard to say it would have been better than what Sloan did because it would have been the first time in 7 years he would have had to coordinate an offense with a QB that isn't a runner.

Penn State coach should have never called la pass play in that siituation. Should have played for overtime. It’s on the coach not the wb.

Same garbage as hiring House, letting Corey go and having no ST coach. Horrid defense that went from worse in the country to below average. Nothing indicates anything beyond an improvement to an average defense next season, if that even happens.
Team is poorly coached and unprepared in 2 to 3 games each season.

I've got no issue playing for the win.

A QB has to know that you can't make a throw like that in that situation.

Umm... Both were in place when Daniels came. Sloan was important, but no. He is not the only reason became a Heisman trophy winner.

That happened because an already great talent in Daniels trusted himself on letting it rip. That was the entire difference between 2021/2022 Daniels and 2023 Heisman Daniels. It wasn't Sloan molding him.

dont waste time on that shoeshiner board clown.

denbrock was always a good offensive mind at all his stops. his horizontal RPOS with a triple option were great.

Kelly is an offensive coach so i assumed he would be heavily involved

and he was, but not until after we had already lost 3 games

Denbrock was a young Joe Sloan at one point in his career. Who knows how this turns out. He could be Joe Brady in three years. This wasn't an extremely offensive talented football team that grossly underachieved, regardless of how you all want to frame it.

Agreed. Not in your own half with a QB who had struggled all game with timing and accuracy.

Penn State's WRs were atrocious though.

he should have been fired as soon as Underwood signed with M. Underwood was the only legitimate reason to keep Sloan around at all.

Denbrock benefited greatly from JD5 and I mean greatly. ND’s offense is awful; hard to watch.

Denbrock also benefited from NDs QB running when the play broke down. That QB kept many drives alive for him.

A lot of his hires have been lazy.

Where is the accountability?

We still don't have a legit Spec Teams Coach!!!

Fukin won despite Denbrock and his sub 300 yds again. He stunk it up.

Who was stumping for Sloan as opposed to bringing in an elite OC?

I seem to remember reading on here several times that Sloan was the real brains behind Jayden’s improvement and Denbrock leaving wouldn’t matter.

Denbrock was not staying here when Notre Dame offered.
