I think its more of an indictment on Clapp at C.

Between Clapp and Dodd, you'd think one of those guys would be ready.

Maybe we just need to clone Pocic 4 times and let him play the entire OL.

Lol - True Pocic isn't no Collins and will never be, but you're right you play him at center because he's better than everybody else there right now. I just think it's a damn shame they haven't trained any of these other guys to play center because they should have been doing that. Like Brumfield who has been a waste while at LSU. Pocic is too damn big to be playing center. He's a detriment for a QB playing there because you can't see over his big arse being that tall. He will be moved to tackle in the pros!

What does playing center or tackle have to do with the D line?

He ain't that good. I've watched his slow footed arse get beat at times so for this season. He needs to pick it up.

I rewatched the Miss State game. He and Boutte were leading the charge on Fournette's screen pass that ended up a yard short of the 1st on 3rd down. He was forced to do it all on his own. Neither one came close to blocking anyone as a couple of defenders passed right by them to make the tackle. That's a few complete whiffs on easy screen blocks Pocic's had this year. Our best lineman needs to get it together, because that's a part of the offense we never get to see and with our RB'S in the open field, our QB'S ability to run it and Cam finally calling it, there's no reason to be blowing what could be many big plays. With all the stout defensive fronts and heavy pass rushes we'll see this year, this could be the part of the game that halts those heavy rushes upfield for a change. Get it together.

I'd still be fine with it, especially against Carl Lawson and Myles Garrett.

And Da'Shawn Hand.

you gotta love the rant. you were "about" half lit, all you remember was a drive killing penalty and he sober up and announce him the best LT since Collins? that's quite an endorsement. do you think it might have been influenced by something you've read another genius on here post. maybe he was half lit too.
He will be here later talking about our going conservative too. Pocic did not do a noticeably good job at LT.

Pocic will not be a tackle at the next level. People have never seen him play tackle except in HS film. Malone didn't do a bad job. shite, when he was in there we had our best half of offensive football in five years.

People don't let reality get in the way of opinions. I don't get what they could be seeing, he has got beaten pulling, missed inside rushes...I just don't get it.

Two springs ago they tried to make Clapp a center and were going to keep Pocic at guard. Apparently this plan didn't work and Dodd has been back up center ever since.

Keep the line just like it is, they improved tremendously since the first game. Good job coach grimes

Being that the Wisky game was the worst OLine play i've ever witnessed at the college level, i would expect some improvement. I still have fairly low confidence in this line. Just hope Etling keeps his pocket awareness at a high level, because he's probably going to need it for Bama, Ole Miss, and Arky.

da'shawn hand? Really? Really now? You're kidding right?

In case you are actually serious.

He has played in all three games and has TWO assisted tackles to show for his time on the field.

bama fans will tell you he is doing great though.

I know offensive line may be one of the hardest positions to play as a true freshman but I would like to see what some of these freshman have to offer . Any freshman have a shot to see any PT this year ?

Malone and Pocic is about the same at tackle
Pocic is far better at tackle than anyone on the team. The staff knows Dodd has no chance against the top few teams we have to play. Malone is slightly better at tackle than Dodd is at center.

100%
And with LSU being a run first team, you need a strong interior line than exterior line.

That's exactly what the oline should look like.

I watched the game again and focused on Dodd when he came in. He did a good job.
Dodd, Clapp and Pocic (With Etling) should've been starting since the first snap against Wisconsin. We'd be undefeated and in the Top 5.

Dear lord, They have trained Clapp and Malone at center for two years.

The absolute ignorance on this board is astounding. To think they haven't tried anyone other than pocic or dodd is laughable.

This has been about offensive philosophy. the running back is your center piece not the QB, otherwise your 6'7 center with arguable the best foot work on the team would be protecting the QB's blindside instead of blocking your QB's throwing lanes.

Some say we don't throw slants because we don't have a WR that is tough enough do it and that may very well be true but a 6'7 center doesn't help either

There is a very good reason Clapp doesn't play center and it's not due to his ability. He's just not an option there, Dodd is fine. Now against Bama? Need Pocic back there

And Teuhema is a guard and should be moved there immediately because he just doesn't have the foot work needed to play tackle. I watched him and he gets beaten badly on simple pass rushes. But the kid would be an absolute mauler at guard and will be one in the pros soon.

MT looked bad at RT; if Toby can't go then this will definitely be a weak spot. Hopefully he can improve there. As bad as Malone was against Wisc, he played well against MS State. Good to see improvement from him.
