There was ZERO logical reason to keep Jones as HC following this season.
Not sure I agree, but it's not an unreasonable position to take.

That decision was made strictly because of the "budget crisis".
I don't agree with this. Jones was kept on for more than one reason. The one you cite may be one of them, but there are at least these others:
1) He has the support of Dale Brown and Collis Temple, who basically run the basketball program
2) He has recruited well in the past and did improve the talent and performance of the team through his first three years before this, his first really bad season
3) LSU doesn't care about basketball, so there's no reason to make a move, especially if it costs any money, no matter how bad it gets
For the life of me, I can't understand why we spent money upgrading the basketball facilities recently if we weren't going to make any real effort to improve the program.

Depends on the state budget situation.

The state budget situation is being used as a convenient excuse to keep Jones. King Alexander does not think LSU fans and LA residents are well enough informed to realize that a winning basketball team could produce some revenue and a losing program would hurt by having fewer tickets sold and fewer fans traveling to Baton Rouge for games, plus less media revenues.
While we are talking about getting rid of Jones and Alleva, it is equally important to take the necessary measures to send Alexander packing as well.

Nothing will happen to Jones. LSU retained Trent Johnson through seasons of 2-15 and 3-14 in SEC play, I believe LSU will do much better than that next year

Travis Ford was recently fired at Oklahoma St. I look at him as a parallel because he was mentioned for the LSU vacancy as well at that time.
Jones has done little more than Ford.

I think there might be a slide back into apathy and low expectations so I don't know how bad it will get on a large scale. Probably not as bas as some think.
But as for me and some of the more die-hard hoops folks I think this year did it for us. Underachieving is bad enough but lack of effort....I can't rationalize that. And it was consistent much of the year.

It'll be ugly. No star player to sell tickets. Attendance will drop to all time lows. I already know a few season ticket holders who said they might just sell their tickets and buy game by game as needed.
Dude were you around for Trent Johnson? That was all time lows. We won like 5 total SEC games in two years combined.

I'm going to challenge this every time I see this as I see it often.
I don't think he improved the team from year one to year two. I think we had more talent and ended up with the same record and were basically an NIT bubble team both years and could just as well have make the NIT year one and not year two.
I think with 3 NBA players in his second year we underachieved. I think we held serve year one. I don't consider that improvement or getting better.

Empty PMAC, not sure if Alleva will fire though.

Everybody so quick to credit his recruiting. Anyone giving him credit for Darcy Malone, Elbert Robinson, Aaron Epps, Odo, Gray & Bridgewater? JJ is still not recruiting enuf to overcome his coaching. Next season his coaching will be even more important. With great talent, he seriously underachieved the past 2 years. 8/9 seed last year then one and done in the NCAAs. No NCAAs this year with the team absolutely tanking late. It's gonna get worse.

How bad will it get for Johnny Jones next season if his team is horrible?
a raise and an extension bad

Aleva's there so JJ has nothing to fret about.

Cock roaches won't even show up to the games next year.
They have better things to do like eat dirt or piss and shite on themselves.

I'm not a CJJ supporter anymore than I was a Ben Simmons supporter. But I am an LSU Tiger supporter and I really don't see how you can post stuff like this and call yourself one also.
I want the Tigers to win every year. Doesn't have to be a National Championship. Just play hard to the best of your ability and be competitive. CJJ has at least one more season and I will pull for him because that means I am pulling for the LSU basketball team. Not the Johnny Jones team, anymore than it should have been the Ben Simmons show, but the LSU team.
If somehow, despite all the odds, CJJ does turn it around and builds a team that plays together then bless him. Hope springs eternal. I will always be cautiously optimistic and excited at the start of every season. If we have another season like this one where the team is in such disarray and gives so little effort then I will be angry and disappointed. But why write them off before they even have a chance? That's not a fan. That's a Vulture.

As a fan, you must have watched a lot of games over the last few seasons. Do you need to see more of Jones to know he isn't a good coach?
You know he is a bad coach. You are just hoping that he figures it out in year 20 of his coaching career. That's not a fan. That's an idiot.

How bad? Either he will get fired or he won't.

Going to take the coaching performance of his career to keep his job after next season.
