If we make the playoffs it will be forgotten but if we don’t it will be hard for Lane to live that one down

You are proving my point.

“Show some toughness”
“Be aggressive”
“You play to win the game”

This is the kind of stuff you see from the 4th and 1 folks.

What’s funny is LK did play to give us the best chances to win the game and that was by punting it considering all the objective reasons to do so.

About as bad as Steve Sarkisian's decision to go for it with three minutes to go in the second quarter versus Florida, in a virtually identical situation.

Kiffin was not counting on Baker allowing Kentucky to go the length of the field against a milquetoast defensive scheme.

If Kiffin had gotten the same result as Texas did, going for it on a fourth and one, people would be going nuts about the stupidity of the call, just as they are with Texas.

It is what it is.

We won?

What a low IQ response.

Would you have preferred they start their drive on our side of the field?

There is no way to know how going for it on 4th and 1 would have played out, especially considering how our line had been playing. If they don't make it and Kentucky ends up scoring with 20-30 seconds left, you'd be on here dogging the decision because it's what you do.

Punting was the right call. Not fumbling on the previous drive means we don't even end up in that position.

That's assuming we make the yard. With our piss pour guard play we probably get stuffed

Texas made the same call against Florida that you insist would have won the game for LSU vs Kentucky. How did that work out for Texas?

im not as upset by that as many here

why? that was NOT the only call that coulda won the game

take away the blocks in back and add holding calls that takes 14 off board for UK

had we been lined up right and stopped 2 pointer at end we win.

it all did not just lie on that 4tha nd 1.

but yes moving forward we have to go for it because we cannot trust this D to even line the frick up correctly much less get a critical stop.

even had asafety or LB or DE dropped to the middle to spy the Qb some bumbass DB was in ZONE COVERAGE on the slot on left side. the guy was open. we might lost anyway. we were in man on the right. NFW that was the coverage baker called. it had to be man across all 5 receivers. pure junior high type frickups by dumbass players.

hindsight is always 20/20

now he knows not to trust the D and fans SHOULD undertand if we go for it and dont make it next time why we did it

hell even tho he punted now they may as well man blitz and if they torch us they torch us. would be better than sitting back in shite zones they cannot even play well. there is a time and place for zones and we are not good at it. period. you very well coulda used it in that situation but we suck at it

it gives you a better chance of winning than handing the ball to the other team when they only need one score to beat you. They very well could’ve beat us in regulation.

Also, just to give you something else to disagree with, we should have gone for 2 in the first overtime since we knew 100% that Will Stein was going to go for 2 considering he had just done it the week before.

Why? You are making tons of assumptions here. Give me actual reasons why that aren’t based off of shoulda woulda couldas.

You are failing to realize the details that go into a decision like that. How did Mark Stoops design his teams at UK knowing he couldn’t recruit the athletes that other SEC teams could? Did Will Stein keep that same recruiting tactic? This is the type of information that went into that decision and guys like you and the other “4th and 1” retards can’t answer.

“I was in fronta ma TVee yelllin ma arse off” is the best anyone has lol

If you’re a ball coach, you are paid to come up with plays that will work in a situation like that. You have to trust yourself and the guys on the field to do it for you.

It is true that the running game wasn’t doing well, but even if it were, you can’t just call a run up the middle and assume they’ll take care of it. if the running game was working, we wouldn’t have been in that situation. You can’t say you should just concede the game when the forward pass is legal on 4th down.

It’s not just hindsight. It was a bad call. Particularly from a guy who has made his reputation off of being successful going for it on 4th down. Lane did it just last year to beat us in the exact same situation except they were up 5 and not just 3 lol

We were not getting a push all night, UK’s defense was specifically designed to stop the short yardage stuff, we had the wind at our back so we would start with good field position.

We picked up several short yardage situations during the game….in fact our short yardage percentage was extremely high.

The decision was terrible then and looks even worse today

Wing that game and LSU goes into November with a game to lose and still make it in the playoff

Now, LSU has zero margin for error with the chances of winning out being extremely small

It’s still hard to believe Lane FN Kiffin wasn’t aggressive in that moment

Just win out you control your destiny. I wouldn't even be shocked if one or two 3 loss SEC teams get in. Not saying it would be LSU but this year is setup just like 2007. Way too much parity.
