Again, absolutely zero reasons for going for it in the context of that game in that moment because legitimate ones do not exist, at least enough to counter the reasons not to do it.

You are thinking way way too simply with this. Thank God our coach doesn’t think like you.

Mark stoops knew he had to recruit bigger physical players at a school like UK. Their front 7 is the second biggest in the SEC. They were built for 4th and 1s.
You are correct that we could have passed but passing becomes harder when you are 1 dimensional and you know the opponent can’t run for it. It’s just not a good idea for so many reasons.

Not sure how the upsets make our OL better or give Lane confidence that Sam wouldn't try a jump pass or some other stupid shite. Our RT, RG, and Center had gotten pushed 4 yards backwards on 2nd down.

Y'all are all acting like it was a guarantee when it was anything but that based on how our OL and QB had been playing the last 2 possessions.

But that's the point. We all thought we had an elite defense. Knowing now we still can't get a stop with game on the line, yes, going for it is the right call going forward....if it is a reasonable yardage to gain..

I'm not sure what's worse, our defense to end halves, or our OL play. It's really a toss-up.

The excuses y’all are coming up with are remarkable

Between Lane and Charlie, there was a play there to pick up 1 yard and run out the clock

Lane has to stop coaching scared and be his true self.

Wasting your time. Had we gone for it and failed and KY wins...these same people would be saying the same thing about going for it as theybare about punting there. It was the right call. It didn't work out. An alpha moves forward, a beta lives in the past.

We picked up several short yardage situations during the game

That’s a fair point, and thank you for providing one because it’s legitimately the first one I’ve seen, but it still doesn’t outweigh the many reasons he had for punting.

Yet, Saban was kne of the most conservative coaches in college football that hardly ever went for it. Funny how successful he was. With no timeouts and a chance to pin ky deep that absolutely was right call. None of us knew at the time Baker would go nuts and call for very soft zone. He cost us....not Lane

It really is amazing how people just parrot the Facebook talking points without even 5 seconds of critical thinkings.

When we hired LK I saw so many people saying that he better not make the same decisions (going for it in his territory) at LSU.

right. that obviously factored into it

we do not have a dominant saban or miles type o line. he could not just impose his will running a dive play.

could we have passed? sure but it comes with risks.

had we not made it and UK drives and wins game he woulda been crucified for giving them a short field.

That 4th and 2 play we used yesterday was awesome. Would’ve been great to use in Kentucky.

correct. Like the QB who leads the nation in INTs, and OL that was getting bullied worse and worse as the game went on, and a QB who had literally just jumped his way into a fumble a drive earlier.

The “go for it” folks can’t provide a good argument for why we should have outside of “they felt like it”.

How has Baker’s defense held up on the road? We have 2 road losses that his defense contributed to heavily. That’s a fact though you don’t like it. Lane is one of the best offensive minds in college football. All things considered going forward I would put the decision in Lane’s hands to go for it on 4th and 1. The Kentucky and Ole Miss games are done. We can’t go back, but hopefully Lane trusts himself over Baker in crucial moments going forward.

I’ll grant you that, but we know now. All of us can see how Baker handles pressure situations especially on the road. Do not put the game in his hands going forward.

Not good. I’m really disappointed in his defense, specifically when we go prevent. We went soft in the second qtr of msst and they carved us up too.

Still, they were averaging 11.3 plays per scoring drive and 4:19 off the clock. Until that drive they weren’t doing a bunch of explosives strung together.

Moving forward you probably make the decision to go for it but in that moment, given the facts, it was rhe most reasonable decisions
