In this modern era it’s not unreasonable to expect that considering how much money was put into flipping the entire staff and roster.

Now if we missed it due to dropping a crazy game at ole miss then two close games to bama and Texas, I can live with that. We certainly didn’t expect a loss to Kentucky before even getting to November where it gets serious.

Some of y’all seem to be stuck in the past on how cfb once was. Teams turn it around and make the cfp in one year all the time now. It’s not unrealistic at all.

You were giving a reason we should accept losing to Kentucky

No. I hear the $40million, but you had to completely rebuild the entire roster after BK. Until he was fired and the curtain peeled back, he really did not put any effort into the job. We hear Indiana all the time, but who do they play. Easy to pump up a team for a couple of games a year. Kiffin made the comment about depth and of course Ole Pissers and jackass’s in national media said he was making excuses. I think he was just being honest. I get a feeling that Woodward and Kelly were either telling boosters they didn’t want to invest or something, don’t know for a fact, but you get that feeling. Also never saw a governor threaten LSU football like Edwards did. I am as rabid a fan as they come, but I think over several years, the AD and boosters were not on the same page and things were not operating like they should. I think that Kiffin needs to trust his gut and Baker needs to stay aggressive at all times. We also need to build depth. First recruiting class for sure helped, build on that.

I agree Turnpike, some of our fans are stuck in pre-NIL nostalgia land. We will have an entirely new $50 million roster every year. Hell, even most of the assistant coaches will change every year. It’s the new reality. There’s no more “building a program”. It’s paid mercenaries on a 1-year stint. I know it sucks, but that’s college football in 2026 and forever until somebody steps up and changes it.

I thought we’d trip up later in the schedule, not to ole Miss or Kentucky both with first year head coaches.

I thought it was possible, still is technically. Some poor execution and a couple of bad playcalls away from being undefeated right now. We're on the cusp, but the hill to climb is very steep this season. I still think we're night and day better than what CBK had us stuck in. Lets get these next two wins, get healthy in the bye week, and see what kind of noise we can make in November.

It is a 12 team playoff, right? That means the Top 12 teams get in.

My opinion is that LSU football should never finish below 12th. The reality is that they almost always do.

I must be delusional.

An eight-figure roster and an eight-figure coaching staff tends to raise expectations, no?

I expected to be at least on the bubble. 2-3 losses.

Instead we’ll have 4+ losses.

You don't understand. Many here expect us to win the SEC and the NC every year. If we don't than the coaches should be fired. They act like the other teams don't have good coaches, players and don't want to win as much as we do. What's hilarious is most show no real football knowledge. Also they pick out one scapegoat. In the Orgeron era it was Ensminger now it Baker. I come as much for a laugh as I do to post. A tiny bit of better play and we are 6-0. We have the right head coach and staff.

me too. I thought our level of coaching would be extremely higher than BK's team, it isn't. I thought getting the best players from an OM team that was a playoff team last year would raise our level on defense, it hasn't.
In a 12 team playoff, I thought, even with a tough schedule, LSU would get in. They may still get in, but it will only happen if a lot of things on both offense and defense change, beginning this week. If not, just as LK said, LSU can beat or lose to any team in the SEC, including Miss State. That is not progress.

I didn’t think we’d be a playoff team this year . What I hoped to see was a team that was at the least competitive against anyone and looked to be leaving it all out on the field every game ! So far we’ve done that and I think we will build on it going forward !

I expected us to compete for the right to go to the playoffs. We are still there. 5-6 plays go the other way and we are undefeated. We aren't that far off even with the injuries. Not worried at all about the future.
