Honestly- how many of you expected LSU to make the playoffs in yr 1 of Kiffin?

Preseason, many of us saw L’s on the schedule. I’ll be honest, I didn’t see UK as a loss. But Ole Miss was definitely a toss up. I think the team’s eye poping statistical performances in the first few games (especially in the beat down against Clemson) changed a few expectations around here.

It wasn’t until his 3rd year at O M that he would be considered a contender. We have very emotional fans. Just keep up with a game on here sometime. If the other team goes up by seven right away, “Oh well, we lost.”

I did and there’s nothing wrong with that. That expectation should be there. I’m not saying fire everyone if we don’t, but this is LSU. You need to have the highest pressure and expectations every year. Being a top 12 team every year is a reasonable expectation.

I did because I just thought LSU could load up.

I honestly trust Kiffin. I didn’t realize how thin we were at certain positions and the injuries really hurt.

I figured we’d have some growth pains with QB and we have but overall I think that position group is improving.

My biggest frustration is for the last 3 years we’ve watched Baler go super conservative in the 2nd and 4th quarters (outside of 2024 Ole Miss).

I thought we’d make it.

But then I heard LK say to tamper expectations so then I went to 50-50.

Now, I don’t believe we make it. We’ll be ok though. I still think the future is bright.

Top 1/5 of the SEC makes the playoffs. So….yes. I expected the $100M coach and $40M roster to be in the top 1/5 of the SEC.

Kentucky has a good coach but I think he took the conference by surprise. Look for his success to become very “mid”’over the next few years.

This is what people don’t understand.

We should NEVER drop high expectations. Ever. It doesn’t mean you want everyone fired. It just means you expect greatness. Do Alabama fans expect to make the playoffs every year? Absolutely. Kalen didn’t make it his first year and he was demoralized in Alabama. Obviously Kiffin doesn’t need to be fired if he doesn’t make it every year. But never drop those expectations.

We should have Alabama and Georgia expectations. No reason not to.

Not really. I did, however, believe we would beat Kentucky!

I expected it.

With the talent we brought in and a favorable schedule with all of our supposed tougher games at home, I thought it lined up.

I was worried about dropping an early, dumb game due to the team not being fully synced, but I didn't anticipate dropping 2 dumb games.

I had 9-3 as most likely outcome before the start.

It’s in the season prediction thread.

Expected? No. Was I hopeful about the possibility? Absolutely.
