exactly. they talk about plays that cater to players strengths yet those long developing plays do not work. Don't know why he is so stubborn not to realize this already. Nickel and dime, dink and dunk, then go over the top every now and again. Thats how you play it. He is another old, hard headed, wont change, Les Miles yoyo.

More crossing routes would help. Everybody else on the planet runs them but us.

Cole Taylor was the only open option on those plays.

Saw this develop on a few 'behind the play' views. After 5 games we know what we have with our QB room, and we know their limitations...period. It is what it is for this season, and we can't waste the talent of this WR group.
We must adjust our OFF play calling to leverage our QB skills and get the ball to our WRs. No other way to say it. 4 catches by WR's last night (5 yds passing overall in the 2d half) is NOT going to get it done.
CBK and staff have done an excellent job coaching and adjusting this season. I expect to see some more of those adjustments next Saturday. GT!

He does not make anticipatory throws. If a wr is not clearly wide open, he’s not throwing it.
exactly. the difference between daniels and anthony richardson - richardson can flick the ball quickly and strongly so he can throw passes without really anticipating. (like jamarcus russell) daniels doesn't have the quick release or arm strength. so he can't get the ball there.

OP has no god damn idea what he is talking about....
It is simple... Let me break this down for you... Daniels is the problem. They practice all week passing plays. He gets into the game with those plays. No idea whether it is nerves or intelligence but instead of throwing to a spot he throws to receivers. That is not how college ball is played. When he sees a man on a receiver he does not throw it because he does not want to risk the interception. In college most pass plays consist of the receiver still in motion catching the ball. Not stopping and catching it. This is the reason his yards per attempt are so low. He throws to the safety valve which alot of time is a tight end or running back because they are not moving or barely moving. Which goes back to the reads he is making. Reads are when you see a receiver single covered you throw to where they will be. He can not read a defense. Stop making this about play calling. He is literally getting his arse chewed out by Kelly for not throwing the damn ball. One time in the game he made the throw he was suppose to. ONCE. And that play ended up having a pass interference call on it. You can not play quarterback in this day and age and expect to win at a consistent high level in the SEC and be a one dimensional quarterback that likes to run. Your better teams will spy him with a fast safety and contain him and you will be garbage. This is the stretch we are about to hit where everyone is going to do that.

This is the thing that Burrow did so well and got us all used to seeing. Plus being able to throw it thru a moving keyhole 40 yards away.
Daniels has no capacity for even thinking of that - let alone doing it.

Daniels is missing some passes and he won’t throw 50-50 balls because he’s scared to throw a pick.
He also is hesitant to throw timing routes where the ball is thrown before the receiver makes his cut. He holds the ball too long to wait to see a receiver come open.
I got the idea that Kelly was not happy with JD on his holding the ball on some deep shots. I think McElroy mentioned it in the broadcast.

I didn’t see him yelling at Daniel’s but I did see him rip nuss a new one. The secondary concerns me more than our passing. The receivers for auburn were wide open.

JD wont throw it deep unless a guy is wide open. He doesn't take a chance or even see the field like he should.
On TV, it was hard to see if any WRs were wide open outside of the miss to Nabors in the middle last night. He threw a few difficult passes to Mason.
what gets me is if he looks and doesn't like it, why is he not throwing it to the back as a check down and get positive yards?
on top of this, he gets the drops which doesn't move the chains to improve our chances for more opportunities.

Lulz. Your qb can’t hit the broad side of a barn and can’t
Read a childrens novel. Bill
Walsh could be our coach as it would not matter one iota. Wake up and stop being football ignorant and stupid.

[quote]Id be pissed if I were a receiver.
And you would be a shitty teammate. While I actually agree with you on the problem, the solution is not to be pissed. How about get on the practice field with him and force him to practice throwing earlier and earlier.
I am not talking about coaches and and what they should do, simply responding to the statement.

Exactly, I said a week ago or so to a poster, that teams would be wise to condense the field from the LOS out to 20 yards ( dropping 7 into zone ) and then have a disciplined, gap sound rush to keep JD in the pocket and you will f$%k his world up. You saw that last night.

That’s Cam Cameron all over again

I feel like the only WR screen we have ran all season was taken 57 yards for the score by Brian Thomas

Multiple drops did not help either

I agree must complete passes to stay in big games. It’s got to improve

Watching Daniel’s in the pocket gives me anxiety. We have a young/banged up o-line and he’s literally dropping back slowly and chilling in the backfield, where are the slant routes? Quick hits? I get that they see something in practice, I just don’t get it. Also, our receivers are playing soft this year. Need to step up in general.
