NCAA tourney consistently.

Be careful with this line of thinking. I got berated in a thread a few weeks ago for saying this exact thing. A winner for most people is consistently in the NCAA tourney and a run to sweet 16 every 3-4 years. Throw in a deeper run once or twice a decade and I'd be ecstatic.

I think this is a point not discussed enough - recruiting/transfer rankings for CMM have actually been pretty darn good - even compared to his peers in the SEC. But whether it's roster construction, evaluation, fit, development or a bit of all of those - it's not translating into success at a level I think reasonable to expect.

The transfer recruiting was designed to fit around the three returning veteran players. The best one was lost for the season, the next left the team to deal with personal issues and the third one apparently also has some issues to deal with. Thats not a coaching issue.

I know folks don't want to hear this or believe this or accept this, but this is almost certainly going to be the case IMHO. And whether I like it or don't like it is irrelevant to the point.

LSU is paying the remainder of the contract (less the % reduction for any buyout) whether he coaches another season after this year or not. It's a sunk cost. LSU is not "saving" anything by keeping him another season. They are just avoiding an added year of paying two coaches (McMahon and a new coach) if you believe he would be let go after next season. That line of logic ignores the opportunity cost of getting in a new HC who might be able to win and inject interest into the program. Greater results = greater interest = greater revenues. If a new HC (which would increase interest on that basis alone) comes in and wins immediately, which we have ALL (except maybe about 5 McMahon apologists) seen is very possible, the added revenue that you were unlikely to get in a lame duck fourth season for McMahon would likely offset much of the additional year LSU would be having to pay for two coaches.

One of the veteran players you are referring to was Ward and we don't know the full and total backstory over why - but some might say coaches decisions may have factored in and the third one's issues you can't say for sure the coach had no influence in that either.

As for Reed, I'd love to have him and yes the injury is bad luck, how much he would have made us better is certainly debatable but again, i'd love to have him.

If this is true, and I'm not privy to his strategy here, is it fair to say the design might be re-thought next time and have some contingencies and back-ups as fluid as rosters are these days?

Not saying you are wrong Alt, I'm just saying he'll be here next year.

South Carolina has mixed it up pretty well against Auburn, Florida and most recently Miss St. Three of the best teams in the SEC and the country.

Won't be surprised if SC comes into the PMAC next month and delivers an old-fashioned arse-whupping to McPuffs team.

Read that again!

Yes another lost season that now makes 3 in row for Mcloser, but all we here is next year, next year, and if we still have Mcdouchebag, another year in the bottom of the conference! Just accept the fact Mcworse coach ever has destroyed the program and fricking move on and get a coach who wins period!

The low expectations everyone has for MM is insane.

No other coach on campus including Beth Torina gets held to no standards by the fans and media.

Mm though seems to have unlimited excuses. These same excuses don’t fly for BK or JJ

They have this one player, Boyles - who is really good, we have no one that can match up with him. I think we match up well with the rest of their guys, so we'll see if that's enough.
