Have we ever folded under CWS pressure?

You see certain teams that can never get over the hump (UNC), some that directly choke constantly (Arkansas) and some that just seem to get rattled at first but settle down (maybe texas tonight). Then there's some that seem to thrive in the moment (LSU). My question for you older folks: Has there ever been an LSU team that was expected to be better but just completely folded in Omaha like some of these other teams? Bc it seems like we have always thrived there. Maybe the 2013 team?

Yes, CPM teams after 2009 especially with Bregman were famous for it

So happy we're past that era

We played poorly in our first trips to Omaha, should have won one before 1991. The Stanford game comes to mind when we blew a 3 run lead in the bottom of the 9th (two walks, hit batter and the grand slam).

I think in 94 they went 1-2 a year after winning it all

‘94 was 0-2 and had the doors blown off in the 2nd game. That was a great team too.

‘98 was rolling until the temps dropped to the 40s and USC beat us twice.

But the answer is most of the Mainieri era we had no mojo in Omaha.

It felt like the stage was too big for us at times in the late 80s before we broke through. Big Ben, arguably the best LSU baseball player ever, went 0-4 in Omaha over the 87 and 89 seasons.

Yea but Skip was just getting started. He was automatic after that. We owned Omaha with Skip.

The 2017 team kinda did the opposite. They had every reason to fold and made it to the championship series

Not sure how many trips to Omaha we've made since the first but probably around 20. We've won 8. In all those other times, I never thought 'this team has no chance.'

I don't like to think those teams folded. There's been heartbreak (grand slam vs Stanford off Ben and vs UNC off Louis Coleman) and costly errors (Bregman vs UCLA and when Poche air mailed it to 1B vs TCU).
