I live in Tampa and I think I am going to make it up for that game, too!

I caught a warm-up field goal in the face once before a game there. Not recommended.

I do work with a very good chemical engineer I recommended we hire from UF.

Lots of over-the-top negative reviews on here. Gainesville is more than capable of providing a good game-day experience for you and your friends. I've been living here for years and never hesitate to don my purple and gold around town. Are there obnoxious fans? of course, everybody has multiple anecdotes of unfriendly fans at an away game.

If you are driving in on Friday and out on Sunday then traffic is a complete non-issue. It's open container campus-wide so if the football stadium is in view then no cops will harass you for walking around with a solo cup (I don't know why anyone posted that drinking at an SEC football game is an issue). It's a nice enough campus to walk around and explore during the tailgating portion, there are plenty of eateries within 2 blocks of the stadium, and there is plenty of activity around the stadium that's fun to check out.

This is true at most places unfortunately. I’ve heard Gainesville is more strict on it though. Some campuses are laid back on game day but apparently not UF. No place like Baton Rouge on game day. NO PLACE

Gainesville was my worst experience at an away game, but this was about 15 years ago, so maybe it has improved some. It's like any other school - the younger the fans you encounter, the more likely they are to be obnoxious. Enjoyed chatting with older fans at the bars. Game day experience in the stadium in the student section was absolutely awful though. Completely classless

Sure. I have had a positive experience there. When we beat them one time in Gainesville back in early 2000’s I drove around their campus the next day with my LSU flags flying yelling “Tiger Bait!”
Frick those assholes.

Yeah im not really worried about it, we're the type of group that can have fun anywhere as long as the beer is flowing. Hell we even turned Starkville upside down a few years ago. We're flying into Tampa but flying back out of Gainesville so should be good on traffic

Not really. Back in 2015 (I believe) this Florida baw was stuck in traffic on the main road heading to the stadium and rolled down his window and started talking shite to me and a group of LSU fans. I responded "come at me bro". Well, he actually did. He put the car in park and got out and came at me with Jack Johnson and Tom O'Leary ready to fight

I dodged the first punch then a group of both LSU and Florida fans tackled him in the road and shoved him back to his car. That was pretty much it. LSU won, then we went out and the bars sucked.

Been 5 times it’s a shithole. Bad fans one little shite stretch of bars and nobodies there till 2 hrs before kickoff. The game is all there is. I’m 4-1 not going this year. Don’t fuk up my record. And tell Mabel hello for me at Cafe Risqué

I went when Aaron Hernandez was playing for them and I did not get shot. That is about the only positive from that trip.

My most positive experience there has been seeing it in my rear view mirror after a victory.

The Tampa Alumni Assoc usually puts on a tailgate w/ food, beer & parking. Stay around other Tigers.

I don’t see how this is any different than LSU or almost any other SEC fan base. We got cussed at by Bama students but the older fans were as nice as can be.

I go to the Florida game every year either home or away. Met some cool people a few years ago that a spot on their Gator Walk and we hang out with them. Just depends I guess where you go. The kids are pricks but so are most of ours. Just be sure to bring some sunscreen because it is one hot SOB inside that stadium.

Gainsville is a whole.

I went to a game there in 1997. FSU was ranked #2 adn UF #10. I went on a bus chartered with the Sarasota Seminole Club. FSU lead most of the game. UF mounted a 4th quarter come back and won the game after a huge bomb to Jacquez Green. The final was 32-29 and THAT is called the "greatest game ever at the Swamp." Kinda sad.

What's worse is though they won the game, this shirtless redneck ran up in my face screaming all kinds of profanity. And as our bus drove out, UF's always classy fans through bottles and such at the bus. They won and that's how they act.

No class and the town is a whole.
