pretty much what i said, i didn't go into much detail with her.
her son is a starter for lsu on the offensive side of the ball.
it was "said" that many black players were upset that o did not support the protests outwardly.
take it for what it is worth, but one of lsu's most talked about returning player on defense in the secondary has supposedly been the cheerleader for divisiveness. this player has had a really bad year in comparison to last year.
you can shoot the messenger if you don't like my message. but this is what was told to me by this player's mother.

Sorry not buying that. If a stupid protest is enough to derail a season like this then the kids have no balls whatsoever. Ok you’re mad your coach didn’t protest, get the frick over it and go play your hardest for yourselves, your family and your teammates. You don’t have to do it for your coach and your don’t have to like your coach to give all your effort. When you play soft and undisciplined like they have they are only hurting themselves because it’s all on film for scouts. I hear all the time about players wanting to “get the bag”. If you want the money then act like it and play like it. You’re 18-22 years old, you’re not a kid anymore. Grow up.

Yes LSU football is rampant with racism, I mean look at the THOUSANDS of white fans who use their hard earned money to watch black athletes, just awful

So you are saying the black players quit on O???????

Personally I think what sparked most of this with the players was going on Fox News. Anyone that mildly leans left is going to make assumptions about you if you appear on the network.
That’s the part I think he should’ve avoided. Fox or CNN, msnbc, no business going on those shows. Stick to ESPN, SEC, and local.
I agree he didn’t get political, have alluded to as much. But the optics are there to be taken and ran with, which happened, like it or not.
The missing the protests thing was quickly explained by him, and while it probably played a role, I doubt it made as big of a deal as going on Fox News
Just my .02

O did nothing wrong

If some players did not like his response than do we really want those players on the team anyway? All it did was cause division

LSU didn’t handle the protest well and Bama did.
Saban saw what happened to LSU and O and did the exact opposite.
Bama didn't do shite until after O was raked over the coals.

This is so fricking frustrating
I’m not even a Trump supporter. I just can’t imagine derailing your season and maybe career over identity politics.

Idk that I’d call O a Democrat
I would - an Old school LA democrat that loved politicians like Edwin Edwards and John Breaux

I’m not a huge Ed fan, but he has tried be positive about this all. That included JBE and Trump. These kids can’t have it both ways.
Well technically you are correct, when he praised JBE he caught flack from many of the anti-JBE factions here. However, when he praised Trump back earlier during the year, that caused more issues given Trump himself is a lightning rod. It also got National attention, whereas what O said about JBE only got local state attention.
Having NFL alums with ESPN platforms, an organization that is corporately anti-Trump, allowed said alum to go national with the criticism.
I have said before, it was not a smart move by Coach O.

Agreed

Agree to disagree
If I’m head coach at LSU, I’m not going on Fox News. Or any partisan network. There is nothing to gain

Jacoby Stevens divided the locker room / took advice form Ryan Clark and it was all down hill from there

I agree. And it was likely about O not being vocal about being on their side. He tried to stay neutral and not be involved but at this point you can't avoid it.

I agree 100% with your two cents. If you coach LSU football, you stay off FOX, MSNBC, or CNN. Stay off of them, going on a local station and working with the Governor is not going to cause the flack of praising a President given the political climate in the USA.
I said several times in other posts, just what you said, stay the hell away from National politics if you coach LSU.
Has Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, or Dabo, ever gone on some network like that and got into anything that relates to Presidential politics. NO!
Posted on 12/7/20 at 1:59 pm to Byrdybyrd05
If this explanation accurately describes the reason for this season, then the players would all have been better served by opting out than looking like crap on film. This makes no sense to me.

You go to ESPN with their sports guys, like Herbie or Reece Davis. You stay the way form that jackwipe Max Kellerman or Dan Lebatard (well he just got let go), or when Keith Olberman when he was there, and other ESPN personalities like them.

If (and that’s a big if) any of this is true then I’m glad this LSU team is getting embarrassed every week.
I guess coach O being JBE’s mouthpiece during the pandemic didn’t matter to them?
