Y’all are some of wild, emotional women with these posts after having all of yesterday to process it and a night to sleep on it. Woke up to see that probably the greatest figure in LSU sports passed away. And these are the threads we’re starting? The posts we’re making

It really shouldn't be all that surprising, considering what this board looks like the first second LSU trails in any sport.

They are so emotional and ridiculous that it makes it seem like rationale people are sticking up for Daniel's, whenever almost nobody is.

I kind of like the way LSU is playing. Don’t say anything. They know they are winning.
Agreed.

Like a dad patting his 5-year-old on the back after a tantrum. "Relax son, It's gonna be okay. Now get out of our bedroom so I can make you a little brother. "

If it was a new demand, sure. It isn’t. He was promised the number during his recruitment. We should honor that promise.

Then we should never do it again.

Fair point.. this has not been handled well by anyone.. I just don't get why there is not equal blame going around here... JD5 and DJ were both promised something.. DJ could have stood down, JD5 could have stood down..DJ has the leverage to leave if he doesn't get what he wants and used it.. JD5 really had no leverage to do anything other than what he did.. Yes JD5 should have kept it close and just been mad behind the scenes and he definitely got bad advice there.. Don't understand how the "its only a number" argument only applies to the Heisman trophy winner and not the Soph, that makes no sense.... Also LSU could have came out and said something acknowledging that 2 promises were made... lastly why is it a good idea as a program to give into demands of current players or recruits if the LSU brand is bigger than any one player

I did like the subtle jab they took on social media. Posted pics last night from yesterday's practice and the first pic was of Pickett in the #5 jersey

But what if a high up told him they would never use it?

Well that person is probably among the high ups who got fired by LSU last December.

If Jayden was that worried about nobody ever wearing #5 again, then he should have asked Woodward or BK to put it in writing and make an official statement. Otherwise any unofficial "understandings" with a previous regime are subject to change when new leadership takes over.

But then if they made an official statement retiring #5, then BK wouldn't have been able to promise it to Pickett during his recruitment.
