Bro, He was golfing and vacationing as much as he was coaching. He wasn't around and wasn't putting in the effort. Its been widely reported the dude wasn't near as evolved as he should have been behind the scenes or in recruiting at all. He got paid and stopped working hard and the product on the field has showed that.

Horrible take. He didn’t fit because he didn’t work his arse off. He didn’t eat breathe and life LSU football.
So tired of this argument. No one cares that he talks like us, otherwise we’d still have Orgeron. Otherwise we would’ve fired Saban.
Les Miles didn’t talk and walk like us.
Plus the standards were LOW back then. Saban changed that. Miles changed that. Orgeron even maintained it for a bit.

Uhhhh, as someone who sat in the stands for nearly every home game during this "era", I can tell you one big difference....
Hallman wasn't making 10M a year with a 20M a year roster.
Expectations are much higher now.
It is really that simple.

Hallman also ended the bama undefeated reigning national champions win streak in 1993.

I wouldn't say he was fired without cause, but ok
"Cause" in this case meaning...
- Being the front-man for an illegal gambling ring
- Covering up a pedophile scandal
- being a co-conspirator to murder
- getting caught by the FBI making a "strong-a**" offer
"You suck at your job" doesn't rise to the level of cause, at least legally speaking.

The only true reason for Kelly getting fired was fitment. It had absolutely nothing to do with winning or how he ran the program.
What an idiotic statement

Different era. Different expectations. Ridiculous amounts of more money. It's gotten out of hand.

The man making $10M a year from LSU gave whose money exactly?
I don’t think BK giving money to NIL was proof of his commitment to LSU or a reason to keep him, BUT, let’s not pretend it wasn’t his money. Once that money is paid to him, it’s HIS.
Just like in poker, once you put money in the pot it’s no longer your money. Once LSU, THE boosters or the people of Louisiana pay him his salary, it’s no longer THEIR money.
Criticize BK for everything else, but it was HIS one million dollars that was contributed

Havent paid attention much post Kelly being fired it seems. The culture was not good around the program, do you not find it odd not a single player since he was fired as well as our OC has not entered or said they are entering the portal? Not a single decommit from the recruiting class. What was keeping these around and here had absolutely nothing to do with Kelly. And fact is there was a HUGE $ investment into this season for Kelly and we ended up 5-3 with a few games left we can easily lose and this is turning into his worst season.
Back in the day there wasnt this kind of monetary investment in the game. Kelly was brought here to do 1 thing - win a championship, he was trending us in the very opposite direction in year 4 despite an all in chips push from donors, AD, etc etc. We brought in Austin Thomas for him, we let him cycle through a number of coordinators and assistant coaches the past several years. He never could get it right, and in a season which should have been his best, is turning into his worst and its not like we had some catastrophic key injury really with a hesiman QB or something...we just sucked entirely on offense with zero identity and the defense started falling apart too. All this again despite HUGE amounts of $ support to find the right players and coaches he wanted. He didnt have to chase off Denbrock by wanting to promote Sloan, but he did and our offense went into the dark ages as a result.
It was clear Kelly wanted to sit in the backseat and let others drive him to success here. The guy took a vacation in the middle of a football season, are you kidding me? We're paying this guy $10M/yr to win a title and he's taking time off in the middle of the actual season? When you pay $10M/yr you expect to get $10M/yr results. Not missing the playoffs 4 years in a row (2 in a heavily expanded playoff); and finding ourselves behind the likes of UVA, Taco Tech and VANDERBILT in the playoff rankings after 8 games.

We fired John Brady 2 years removed from a final 4 appearance and where has our MBB program been since then.
I mean were you asleep at the wheel when Wade was here? I've been watching LSU basketball closely for 20+ years and I've never been more excited to watch LSU basketball than when Wade was here. The talent was real, the teams were exciting to watch, he was getting us to the tournament basically every season. John Brady got fired because the program went into the armpit of the SEC just a couple years removed from 1 run he had, thats not acceptable. There was never any semblence under Brady that was more just a blip on an otherwise meh tenure here than something he could replicate. Brady went on to coach for 8 years at Ark State and never once made the tournament there. Wade has had a tournament team basically in 8 of the last 9 years he's coached at VCU, LSU and McNeese freaking state.

Coaches weren't making $1m a year back then much less $10m. A little perspective.

Standards were a tad lower back when Hallman was here.
100%. To drive home the point, LSU hired Dinardo as his replacement. Dinardo’s HC experience consisted of 4 season with records of 5-6, 4-7, 5-6 and 5-6; 9-22 in SEC games; and a 65-0 loss in his final game before being hired by LSU.
Of course not long ago we did hire a coach who’d gone 10-25, 3-21 at OM. Worked out in 2019, but…

These are different times; it's as simple as that.

Hey Brian…. Your post is as bad as your record vs. Ranked teams…. Anyway, we fired coaches who had ALOT more success here for not upholding the standard…. The LSU of the 80’s & early 90’s was no where near the LSU of the 21st century. If all business decisions had karma, the idea of risk wouldn’t exist….

Curly Hallman was an illusion created by Brett Favre at Southern Miss. The perception was that he was responsible for the success while Favre was there. But it was strictly a matter of Favre being NFL QB material. Even so, Southern went 5-6 one of the years he played in Hattiesburg. LSU fell for the illusion. Brian Kelly was not an illusion. He had won at a high profile school but did not turn out to be a good fit in Baton Rouge. Patience doesn't exist anymore in the NIL/portal era, however.
