McElroy has turned out to be one of my favorite College Football analysts…. Damnit

I really wondered how much this week's #25 ranking was pushed by ESPN to have a ranked matchup.

#17 that lost to app state at home.
And we lost to an unranked team basically at home. You can play the who beat who game, but you're going to end up going in circles. Truth is the AP poll doesn't matter, especially 5 weeks in. Keep winning and you'll keep going up. That's how it works.

Regardless of if it’s bias, McElroy didn’t site the rankings. He sited lack of coverage for LSU, which is interesting coming from a generally level-headed analyst/talking head.
LSU lost the benefit of the doubt they had built up over 20 years with two straight .500 seasons. Outside of a couple of unexpected wins over Florida, LSU has been an afterthought over the last two years. So, they have to earn that credibility and respectability back. Losing to an ok FSU team in somewhat embarrassing fashion on national TV didn't help, and wins over Auburn and MSU don't really move the needle from a national perspective...even though MSU is probably a solid team.
A win tomorrow starts to put LSU back into the national conversation. A&M was thought to be the main challenger to Alabama in the preseason. Unless, the unexpected happens, that narrative dies tomorrow. Arkansas was picked to finish 3rd and thought to maybe be a dark horse West challenger. That delusion is officially over with losses to A&M and Alabama. A 5-1 LSU team with a home game against Alabama on the horizon starts to get people talking again.

Weird, this because he left ND?

4:26 mark of video
Boutte has a 19% drop rate which is the worst rate by an SEC WR in 10 years. Wow

Also says around 6:50 that a win might propel LSU into the top 15, but that AP voters and media have a grudge against Kelly… According to McElroy there are “demons being exorcised and grudges being held” against BK.
Man, I have been saying the same thing. It is not that they are saying bad things. It is that they are pretty much not saying anything at all. I dont think the SECN show hosts know that LSU is in the SEC this year...
I watch several of the SECN weekly shows and up to this point it has been radio silence on LSU. They spend more time talking about teams that are struggling than us. I watched SEC This Morning and Nowkhah and Doering's review of the LSU Auburn game was how Auburn really did not suck as bad as they thought and almost did not even mention that they played LSU. They came back from commercial break and said Oh by the way LSU won that game...

I wouldn’t expect anything less on the latter.

I’m surprised McElroy picked us based on the way our offense has played. He’s pretty impartial if Bama isn’t involved and normally pretty spot on with his predictions. I’ve been thinking the same thing but figured it was because of the P&G colored glasses.

I think McElroy is pretty solid. I like him in the booth.
Probably like him more if he hadn’t played for Bama.
Just makes him seem prissy…

Has more to do with them beating #17 Texas A&M
MSU was ranked ahead of LSU after LSU beat them and before they played A&M..

But why are they so upset with BK?

e said he also noticed the lack of national reaction to our solid win vs Miss St too, interesting
States getting more credit for beating A&M than we are for beating state themselves. The logic is absolutely arse.

He dared leave blue blood ND for LSU.

Insider info stated this was likely as soon as the hire at LSU was announced. And it's been obviously evident since then! No complaints though. LSU's coaching shytshow coupled with a Notre Dame coach leaving for LSU was a helluva recipe for LSU to be ignored and disrespected in the media.

LSU is coming off two non-winning seasons. They lost to Florida State in the opener. The biggest win is against Mississippi State, which was unranked at the time. Their other wins are against an Auburn team that lost by 4 touchdowns at home to Penn State, and at home against New Mexico and Southern.
They were actually ranked around 34th in the AP poll with only 7 poll points the week before the Auburn game, and I’m surprised they were ranked by barely beating probably the worst Auburn team since the 2012 team that went 3-9.
Is there a media bias against Kelly? Maybe. But I don’t think it’s showing up in the polls. LSU is probably right where they should be.
