and Bill Bellicheck was the head coach of the Browns! But you're right it's completely impossible for a coach to ever improve
people post this like Belichik didnt have their only playoff team for around 25 years.

When the coach starts winning, then they get the benefit of the doubt. Not when they give us our worst loss in years and the team looks terrible.

How many coaches out there started out terrible and ended terrible?

Since he got fired, somewhat unceremoniously, before they moved to Baltimore, people tend to remember Belichek as a total failure in Cleveland. But he wasn't. They've had two playoff appearances in the last 28 years. Belichek's 1994 team and that 2002 team with Derek Anderson.
Belichek inherited a 3-13 team, then went 6-10, 7-9 and 7-9 before breaking through and going 11-5 in '94.
Then, the team announced they were moving before the 1995 season and by all accounts that season was a freaking nightmare for everyone involved. The team struggled, went 5-11, and the staff was not invited to move to Baltimore. New city, clean start mentality, I think.
Anyway, while he didn't kill it in Cleveland, he was hardly a disaster.
Wow. Sorry. Didn't mean to go all Browns wiki on you.

Hell no. Folks around here need to be educated on the O vs belichek comparisons.

There would be more rope if lsu hadnt made the most unqualified hire in big 6 history. our clown ad hired someone that has never proven he can run a defense or offense let alone a program.he has been coaching for 33 years and has yet to prove he can have any success at any position above dline coach. thats the hire our ad made at one of the most critical moments in lsu football history. youre a shite fan if you sit back and shut up about it
You are going to be bitching and moaning for a long, long time. As coach O will be here as long as your Idol was here and probably a lot longer. Meanwhile, I will thoroughly enjoy watching you being miserable for years to come.

We're all going to have to give Orgeron a chance, because we have no ability to remove him, and like it or not, he's the head coach at our beloved school (of which I'm an alum).
I understand there will be a bit of a transition, although to be completely fair, he was on-staff before the firing, and he was the interim for over half the season last year... he didn't come in cold. This should have been a much more seamless exchange.
What concerns me MOST about what I see- there seems to ba a drop-off in focus and intensity among the expected leaders.
Etling- he's been good. That's to be expected from him, he already transferred away from another program, and he's learned to fight through adversity, regardless of the coaching. You would expect no less from a guy who transferred to LSU and persevered to become the eventual starter.
But the others;
Guice- looks nothing like the explosive player we saw last year, the one that was named preseason All American. Tentative to the hole, no breakaway speed, not as tough to bring down as he was last year. Could be he's hurt from overuse, a fear I first had when he carried 36 times against A&M (and had again with 20+ carries in the first half against BYU). People say there are no holes to hit, but Williams is gaining yds, and Guice was able to find holes last year.
Chark- just looks lost out there right now. No other way to put it. He might have been a late rd pick last year, and the way he's playing, he isn't making the leap we expected. If anything, his stock is dropping.
Key- don't know the inside story on what happened to him over the offseason, but right now he's plummeting. Should not be on the field right now.
These were the key guys any coach here would be counting on this season, and they look like unmotivated players. That's the main problem I have; if you can't get your stars to take things seriously, you're not going to be successful

Nah. I know you get off on this, but even Ole Miss was smart enough to part ways with him.

totally agree .. besides, even though one would not know it... WE ONLY HAVE ONE LOSS.
let's support the ENTIRE team, coaches included, until such time as FACTS support otherwise.
....
For those who simply think that bitching will get coach O fired, and are doing it because your choice is not coaching the Tigers...
calm down, get over it.
Let's wait and see what the future brings before the bitching continues.

How's Florida State and Texas doing with their new coach? I don't like it but we are in a year with no depth on the line. I'd rather support the team and watch them grow this year than to join the negaters! It's also better for my blood pressure. Does anyone think negative comments help recruiting?

I did give them a chance...then they lost to a mediocre Mississippi State team by 30 points!
