Why is it a terrible thread? It's a legitimate question with facts to support asking it.

Was it while he was at Ole Miss? Was it when he was at USCw? Or, was it when he was unemployed and Miles was the only one asking him to come coach?

the moment he realized Alleva was dumb enough to hire him and this fan base was dumb enough to believe it.

Who knows.

I think there's an affinity for LA on one hand and a "I got out of LA and made something of myself in L.A." OTOH type disposition.

Ed just seems very immature for someone his age. Not much self-control.

Syracuse was also his dream job, with the condition that they give him an interview.

So was Ole Miss. I'm sensing a pattern.

home sick. Had never left the bayou before.

Has there ever been any actual proof that he was even given a scholarship and went to LSU other than just him telling everyone about it?

Like a team photo, program, his offer letter, the letter of intent (AD might keep all those on file), his class schedule. Hell a microfiche of an old article from the Lafourche Gazette or school paper even??

Always sounded like a typical tall tale from a snake oil salesman to me. Like it started as some Uncle Rico shite from a meathead strength coach that went to NW State trying to up his cred at big programs when he was getting his start in coaching

Oh, and as to the OP, he has never loved LSU. Grew up a USC fan and spent decades trashing us on the recruiting trail.

Wasted lots of Ole Miss money and resources recruiting Joe McKnight to USC for Pete Carrol while he was HC in Oxford just to frick us over.

And of course the turning us down for the same job at UT and orchestrating the Janzen Jackson NSD string along, again just to frick us.

Almost like he was a bitter old scrub still mad about not getting an offer from the big in state school

One of us

I believe the story goes, he came to LSU as a DL but after a few weeks on campus Cholly Mac moved him to OL. Ed got mad and quit. The end.

Well yeah that’s the story. Any documentation?

Surely something is floating around out there besides quotes from him about it.

I believe Ensminger was on the team at the time. I vaguely remember one of those old timey individual photos of Ed in an LSU uniform floating around.

I’ve only seen this one.

Has E ever commented about him? He’d have been a senior QB so not sure how much he’d interact with some freshman DL that quit after a week of summer camp.

I swear I've seen one like that in an LSU uniform but I could have been drunk & seen that one haha.
I've seen where they have both commented about being teammates.

Honestly, since he took over at LSU, he has always seemed very respectful and showed a lot of self-control in public appearances (the locker room thing after the Bama game was immature, but it was supposed to be just for the team following a gigantic win).

So just because he chose not to attend LSU means he doesn’t love LSU? That’s an idiotic take. Maybe he wanted to be closer to home? Maybe he realized he couldn’t compete at that level?

I didn’t go to LSU, but I sure as hell love LSU. Stupid thread.

You loving LSU and O being on scholly, quitting and playing for another team are two entirely different circumstances.

Spin much?

ETA: idiotic....stupid......”closer to home”

Might want to get a map of LA, Francis.

Orgeron loving LSU is fake news. For anyone paying attention the last 20 years, his dream was to be at USC.

His dream was the same dream as anyone who goes into coaching...to be the head coach at a major university, wherever that may be. I'm sure it is cool for him to realize that dream in his home state, but I don't think his dream was ever USC either. It was whatever big program that was willing to hire him. It's like some of you are new to the political part of being a head coach. Very few coaches have the opportunity to coach at their alma maters, so they make their jobs their "dream" and sell that dream to the fanbase. Saban didn't give a flying frick about Alabama before they hired him and same with Dabo at Clemson. It doesn't make them "liars" or "snake oil salesman." Selling your commitment and love for the program just comes with the job, and that's an easy sell for Orgeron being from South Louisiana.

Uh, the media lies a lot so maybe not true.

Maybe its just the media's narrative. We know they lie a lot...see their coverage of Trump

He went to North Western State probably because he wasn’t highly recruited. Or maybe he couldn’t make the grades. He probably did what was best for him at the time. Do you know how many people love LSU yet chose not to attend school there for one reason or another?
