Why,, practically all catchers do that. He’s once off the best at fooling the umpires. Complain about the umpire, not him.

Zone should be set automatically like in the majors for the CWS.

If anything, moving the glove that much should be a dead giveaway it’s NOT a strike.

If I were an ump this is exactly what I would do

What I see beside the glove being moved to the center of the plate after catching it is that umpire is not watching the ball.

Trackman or bust. It’s time.

Really good player. Switch hitter with strong and quick hands. He’ll def steal a few for coastal.

To the dude calling him a piece of shite….get a life. Kid is doing what any good catcher would do.

They were sitting on that slow curve of Dutton and crushed him and Auburn screwed themselves on the base paths running themselves out of innings or getting doubled up at second on line drives to the second baseman. Auburn hit that starting pitcher Flukey hard and the lefties Auburn came out of the pen with stymied their lineup.

I have watched Coastal a lot. Their pitching staff benefits by ENORMOUS strike zones and insane calls from the umps. I am really really hoping the umps have been made aware of this and don’t get too obsessed with this guy. Framing 3-4 inches is whatever. He can get 8-10, but it has not been as egregious in CWS

If I was the ump this would piss me off.

Every catcher does the same thing. Some are just more subtle than others

There’s nothing wrong with trying to frame those pitches. The problem is the stupid umpire giving him strikes. Some of those pitches are no where near the zone.

That graphic is nice and all, but not impressive without context of this compared to other catchers. Ive watched enough bad umps to know alot of catchers “get strikes” like alot of those throughout the year.

Would need number of balls called strikes and comparison to the rest of the country

And because of this if such affects fair play in a big way, those Umpires will be replaced with High Tech. The people will demand it, rightly so. The players should determine the outcome and not the officials. Enough is enough. We may have to fight wars but we don’t have to put up with this crap.

college strike zones should not be compared to pro strike zones like that. The umpires are worse and they do not call strikes as tight as MLB to begin with.

That said, he is a really really good receiver. MLB-caliber

That’s little league framing man.
no. It’s not.

He moves too many and too much, but how he does it in real borderline strikes is top level. Firm and amazingly fast and almost always receives going toward zone.

Yes a one foot miss moved 18 inches shouldn’t fool an umpire

I don't care how fast the catcher is at framing, a good umpire will see it and call the pitch for what it was.
