A dude at the college level that can’t even catch the damn ball when it’s passed to him. Often he would be set up for a wide open dunk and just drop the ball. I know players can get better but damn, I don’t know what NBA team is salivating over him.

His defensive ability was second on the team behind Tari.

He has definite potential there. I thought Gaines was better with what he brought to the table overall on defense.

Fudge had a really good game in our first matchup with Arkansas. With the right guidance, he has good potential. He just seemed a little timid after a pretty good start to the season.

You shouldn’t be able to transfer in conference without sitting out. Pretty shitty but it is what it is these days

I hear you. you are a respectable basketball poster. No matter how frustrating Reid was at times, I see an easy path for improvement. The things that fudge struggled with are much harder to correct. he has bad hands. Thats a problem for a guy that doesnt create. The team would have had 30 more total assists for the season if not for his inability to catch the ball in transition or from a penetrating guard

Honestly this doesn’t sound like you. We’re in a tailspin and not wanting Fudge back is insane to me. But whatever.

I do get that. But we are where we are. I think fudge can improve a lot and rather him here than UF.

Tailspin is kind of a reach. We’re rebuilding after a coaching change. I like Fudge’s potential a lot and of course I’d like to keep him but I’m not too broken up over this, minus him going to UF. We need some guys we can plug and depend on for big minutes right now, and I think we can get that in the portal. Or I hope. I’m not convinced Fudge can be that guy yet. And if he didn’t want to stay and wanted to be closer to home that makes more sense and it’s probably best he moved on.

Yeah, I’m not trying to be that guy. It’s going to be a long off season and see how it works out. I don’t think ppl should shite on a a player and say - okay, bye.

Whatever people think, they played for
LSU.

Isn't that what Fudge just did? But when a fan has an opinion that dosen't line up with yours it's shitting on a player?

I agree with you. People describe players like him as having insane “athleticism” but he can’t even catch the ball much less handle it with any competence. How is that athletic?

I also agree with this. I was just talking about from a pure basketball perspective. He's kind of a project. He might end up being great. But at this juncture, we need guys we can plug and play and depend on.

Fudge could make plays most other guys couldn't simply because of his raw athleticism. You can can develop a guy's skill (you see that all the time in the NBA). You can't teach him to be 6'8", with length, and an explosive leaper. He was definitely one of the guys I was hoping would return (really, the guys I was MOST hoping would come back). There is a lot of raw material to work with there.

Moving on, LSU has multiple guards now. The only concern is they all seem to be a bit redundant in their strengths and weaknesses. Now McMahon needs to work on the frontcourt.

Noah Batchelor is a 6'6 spot up shooter from IMG (by way of his home state of Maryland). His purported top two teams are Maryland and LSU. He could provide an aspect to the roster LSU doesn't look to have now. Outside shooting.

KJ Williams is arguably the biggest name to keep an eye on. He wants to go to the NBA. But if he is not quite there yet, getting a 6'10 experienced, developed, conference player of the year Center to join LSU's roster would be huge

I'd love to see the staff (and I can't imagine they aren't) go after Tennessee transfer Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. He's a 6'9 PF who was a 5 star recruit last year. He was a role player for Tennessee (though he started 13 games) this past year, but the guy already has NBA size and ability that can be developed. Two of LSU's current coaches tried to recruit him to Memphis and Ole Miss. He's a Tennessee native, same as Matt McMahon, so you have to think McMahon has some deep connections to the state.
