Lack of recruiting? Lack of player development? Sub-par assistant coaches? Mainieri on cruise control? It’s a little of all of those things and it shouldn’t happen at a top-tier program like LSU. How motivated is PM to turn it around? Will he make some coaching changes and bring in seasoned veteran teachers or allow his group of minor league busts to further bury the program?

Very reminiscent of the 2010 season. Hopefully he turns it around again like he did after that season

Coastal Carolina went from National Champs to left out....Should we expect LSU to be a better program than the 2017 National Champions!!!

Yeah. Injuries have absolutely nothing to do with it.

Well we replaced 5 of 8 fielders and every pitcher from last year.

That’s a lot of production to replace.

I’m not saying we should be ok with the results, I’m just saying we shouldn’t be completely caught off guard that this was a possibility.

I expected this year to be a drop off. I am actually surprised Hess is holding up as well as he is in the starter role. That said we are HURTING in the pen. In hind sight I think Paul should have replaced Hess with Johnny whole staff earlier in the year and put him back as the closer. From a numbers stand point we would be sacrificing one game in the series to provide the staff with the ability to save two games. Anyway you look at it it's a bad situation for LSU, much like the JJ vs JL debate after the 2012 NC game, your options are limited and non of them will likely lead to success.

Well earlier in the year the pen was the strongest part of the team

Paul has caught the Les Miles bug and has reached his expiration date. Pulls pitchers when he shouldn't... leaves others in too long.

CPM needs 4 drafted upperclassmen to return to get us to runner up.

We were runner up because we were stacked with upperclassmen.

Looks like all those mid week losses weren’t a big deal

Whatever the reason it's just frustrating watching this team leave so many wins on the field.

Moo State made a Super Regional last season after SIX pitchers were lost to season ending injuries.

When your best hitter AND best pitcher are not playing I would say the injury crowd might be into something.
