Coming into this year I would have said

12-0 or 11-1 is a success

10-2 or 9-3 is on par

But with how weak the SEC is 9-3 is a failure to me now.

Bama and Georgia are the weakest they've been in years.

Auburn, Tennessee and Florida are rebuilding

This was a perfect year to make a run even after getting your arse kicked by FSU

Let’s start with only giving up 40 points.

We need to see that they can play defense in a competitive manner to hold the opposing teams to more than the betting line.

9-3 would be absolute best case scenario at the moment. I honestly think we lose this weekend and could be looking at a 7-5 season with losses to Bama and A&M.

Last year and this year are probably the weakest the SEC will be for a long time.

You people are ridiculous. LOL. So the team overachieves last year after BK taking over a team with 39 scholarship players and a bowl game where the WR played QB. Could have easily gone 7-5 or 8-4 but got lucky in a few games then loses most of it's veteran defensive players and you think 9-3 is a failure.

At this point we just have to take it week by week. We can't overlook anyone in our conference right now. At this point anything worse than 9-3 (i.e., 8-4) is an abject failure. 9-3 is just a disappointment, but not a downright failure.

8-4 even 7-5 is what I see. We just do not have the player personnel in the secondary. If the DL does not get a better push at the QB or blitz more it could even get worse. It is just facts.

That's what's so frustrating. The SEC is struggling. If LSU played even slightly below average D we could be well on our way to winning the SEC. Sound, not great D would have been enough to beat FSU.

10-3 would be awesome. 10 win seasons don’t just happen, and doing that in back to back years means something.

Wins and losses are important, of course, but if you fairly evaluate the roster, we are still in a crisis mode from two years ago. Setting aside how you allocate fault for that precisely, if you want success and continuity of success, you look at the larger trends in the program. That means you judge the success of this season in how we repopulate our roster for the long haul. Most here do not understand this, but I am now more concerned about how we end the year first, recruiting and, second in the portal, than where we are ranked at year end or what bowl we might end up in.
This program is weaker than i thought, and last year's success may have been fools gold. It certainly was not a good predictor of the health of the program.

Not to mention the late transfers from the team after BKs hire. Recovering from 38 scholarship players with the limits in place is extremely hard.

I think improved play week to week by the defense will at least show us this staff can adjust and can coach. Imagine how good this team is if the defense moves up to 70th from 117th?
