Answer to that would be yes… my family grew up bleeding purple and gold. Moved up here for work about 10 years ago. My kids pull for LSU too, youngest is currently committed in baseball to USM.

I would even go so far to say that USM has just as good of hitters as LSU. Tigers came through in a lot of big moments but we also struck out a LOT this weekend. Our hitters could not lay off the down and either in or out 3-2 pitches. That was the difference. Call it better pitching but an argument can be made for USM having more disciplined hitters. The Eagles should be flying high right now.
They earned the right to host a super regional. LSU played their hearts out and it was enjoyable to watch every pitch.
Geaux Tigers and Geaux Eagles!

I commend USM fans for bringing the energy all weekend.

I disagree. USM fans didn’t cheer unless they were winning. And even then, it was usually something rude and immature directed at specific lsu fans.

I agree but I think that had more to do with the fact that everyone in black and gold was waiting for the other shoe to drop after what you cocksuckers had done in the games before. I promise you nobody was going to breathe a sigh of relief until it was 100% over and yall were on the bus. I don't think anyone wanted to get too high for fear that they may be let down. But I made the statement yesterday that usm has some terrible fans for their lack of enthusiasm in such big moments

I saw absolutely none of this. I was in the middle of nothing but usm fans and never heard or saw that. I was not close to any lsu fans, so I cant speak to what was said down the first base line/lsu's section. The only thing possibly derogatory that I heard from usm fans could have been in one of Jay's 85 mound visits. He walked by me heading to the bus yesterday and i bit my tongue but I wanted to tell him the mound was the opposite direction.

I know every base has assholes, like whomever said they couldn't wait until waldrep tore his ucl next year, but for the most part, there are rational people rooting for every team.

When the regionals were announced, I absolutely hated knowing yall were coming to Hattiesburg. Knowing that you were who usm had to go through to get to the supers made it seem highly unlikely, but i guess that's why they play the game. Yall have some absolute grown arse men at the dish

Thanks for the kind words.
As a whole, your fan base came off as major pricks.

I will say this much - there were 3-4 guys from LSU, that when they hit the ball, it was on a different level all together. The ball just flew off their bats so much harder than everyone else in the Regional. Was scary. Those were 3 tough games. Never felt safe.

Thanks for the classy level headed post. Some of the idiots on this board are salty and want JJ fired which is down right stupid… He will turn LSU into a monster like you said…

The super this weekend should be a good one, USM can throw it and OM can rake so!!!

I grew up in South Mississippi and lived there for more than 30 years, my high school football coach was a HOF USM baseball player or something, Hugh Pepper. my wife has a degree from USM, although spend 3 years at LSU. i used to go football games, party’s etc there for years. i am still very good friends with many of their alumni. Hattiesburg is actually a really decent place to live. They are honorary Coast Rats. This is a big Saints town.

They have absolutely no deep hatred or animosity towards LSU at all, I am sure they gasped when we were stuck in their regional. We share a bitter enemy in Ole Miss (Not me but the fan bases), and since they don’t get to play Ole Miss in football anymore, they are basically all LSU fans on that one.

I used to be huge fan of their football team as it was a collection of South Mississippi, Alabama abs Louisiana kids all told they weren’t good enough for the SEC, that worked their asses off played hard with chip on their shoulder, and regularly beat Much more talented teams like Ole Miss, Mississippi State, even LSU and a bear Bryant Bama team.

They were like LSUs tough little brother that wouldn’t give up. Then they hired some shitty ADs l, fired jeff bowers and are where they are. This baseball team reminds me of those overachieving football teams from the 80s and 90s that no one in the SEC wanted to schedule.

They are going to beat Ole Miss, I can smell it a mile away.

We weren’t a CWS caliber team this year and that’s ok, can’t go every year.

So here is a honest toast to your bad news bears like screaming eagles baseball team, and it’s ragged bunch of nobody’s and rejects that just play smart baseball seem to find a way to win. Good luck in Omaha!
