Fournette says the players took the Miles matter personal.

(But the fans know better than the players. How many internet tough guys would tell Fournette he's wrong?)
Count stud tailback Leonard Fournette among those relieved by LSU retaining coach Les Miles.
Miles, whose job status had reached a point where multiple outlets were reporting an imminent firing after the season, told the team that “it was going to hurt him” if the school let him go, Fournette said. That statement didn’t sit too well with his players.
“Everybody knows it’s a business. We took it personal,” Fournette said.
Knowing this, the Tigers faced Texas A&M in their regular season finale with Miles on their mind and eventually hung on for a 19-7 win.
After that game, when LSU athletic director Joe Alleva announced that Miles would continue to coach the team, Fournette and others could exhale.
“It was a lot. Without his signature on that letter, we wouldn’t be at LSU,” Fournette said. “Just playing for him. He always told us just to play for the seniors. But we wanted to play for him instead.”
And Miles’ handling of the very public ordeal? Well, that turned out to be a pretty great example for his players.
“No matter the situation that came his way, he kept it professional,” Fournette said.

I agree. That giant puss needs to get his arse to the field for game day.

He never comes out for gameday.

I have no doubt that the players that signed with LSU, especially those who start, prefer to stay with the coach they signed to play for. I also have no doubt that students wanted Miles to stay as well.
But the ones who are not students who have to pay for tickets that they cannot even sell if unable to attend the games, I bet that demographic would show an entirely different trend.

It would've been nice if they would've taken it personal against ole miss and Arkansas also.

You're gonna get soooo many downvotes by guys skimming over that.

maybe they should have played for him sooner instead of letting it get to this point

I hope they play really hard next year for Les. In the end it dosent matter shite coaching will still get this LSU team the same result. Texas Bowl here we come.

Must not have been that personal since they barely hung on to beat an average at best A&M team at home.

This doesn't make sense.

quote:that not strike anyone else as odd? So Les tells the team, that it would hurt him if they let him go? Really? Did Les "hurt" Okie State when he left them for another gig? Did he "hurt" the players that committed to play for him there? It's the business.. That looks to me like he was turning the players against LSU, had the let him go...

And even then, LSU still played like shite against aTm.
Did anyone actually go back and watch that game or they just remember miles being carried off the field?
LSU was gifted 21 points and could only score 9 because the offense looks worse in the 11th game into the season as it did the first.
And not one of the players are going to come out and say anything negative about their coach to the fricking media. This isn't the NFL. They would be fricking stupid to do so.
The players better "take it personally" all next year too if they want to save his job.

Nobody gives a shite about you.
You (and me) are the most replaceable piece of that puzzle. Always remember that.

They took it personally and we still only beat minnow Texas A&M, who had nothing to play for, 19-7 at home.
We are in more trouble than I thought.

Gifted, or created turnovers? And once LSU ran the ball, they dominated. Go figure, but for some reason our all knowing Miles haters would rather the team play to their weakness and throw the ball.
